I don't get it either. I'm assuming the posters making those comparisons have seen a lot more of McLarty. I hope they respond because I'm keen to learn more about this guy.
Interesting point.Too negative on others SV. All is well meant out of concern and support for the club.
Try this analogy.
Your teenage daughter wants you to meet her suspect looking BF.
Some dads will reach for the cricket bat behind the door, others will go out of their way to make the boy feel at home despite their reservations and then those who try to talk the daughter out of it all.
Not all reactions have my approval but I can understand the motivation. And same with the sceptical / cynical posters here.
I can only assume you're talking about Shai Bolton, and if it is him, wouldn't it be absolutely horrible if a talented youngster turned its back on Richmond...!
Constant injuries and a poor kick I believe is the reason.
Personally I think it's the pick that had to happen but It's slightly disappointing we're still recruiting defenders who can't kick.
Seems like this guy is one of the 20 players to watch according to Twomey in June.
BTW, Hine must very like Oakleigh.
He measured 197 at the TAC cup combine I'm pretty sure.
I couldn't give a toss about his bionic ear. Geoff Blythen kicked 102 goals for Essendon in '72 wearing glasses. Seems like a good fit for us, being an individual of high character, and a natural leader. Good pick Derek.
Are the realists in the insensitive knob or cautious category? Or should another 5% be added? It's a pretty good snapshot of Collingwood supporters. 70% Supportive, 10% over optimistic, 10% cautious, 10% insensitive knobs who didn't know who he was yesterday, 5% math wizards.
Very much in the cautious category. Realists ask questions. Knobs assume everything. Are the realists in the insensitive knob or cautious category? Or should another 5% be added?
Add 10% for GSTAre the realists in the insensitive knob or cautious category? Or should another 5% be added?
No such thing in this countryFree speech more important.
His below average kicking won't be an issue if we work to his strength and have someone always close by for the HB receive. If he can continually take contested marks and halt the oppositions forward movement, we just need to make sure our run out of defence is there. Looks like he gives 110% in the contest and continually follows the pill up, just hope he can hear who's calling for the HB when there's 80,000+ people packed into the MCG in 2018 for the GF.
The way we rave about our kicking coaches the club will be betting that they can get his kicking up to scratch.
Just reading between the lines: did he just try and tough out the season with it?Reading the thread inspires confidence in the boy except for one thing - his shoulders.
Hey Jude.....Reading the thread inspires confidence in the boy except for one thing - his shoulders.
Very common with shoulder injuries.Just reading between the lines: did he just try and tough out the season with it?
Sounds like he just kept aggravating the same problem until they gave in and did the op.
Good call, he isn't even that bad by the looks.Brian Lake or Harris or whatever was a shit kick but a great intercept mark and he's been one of the best key defenders of the last 10 or so years. So I'm not too worried about McClarty.
Here you go Sir.Wow 19 pages, I think some people need to understand if someone posts something you agree with you can simply "like" it, rather than repeating the same line over and over and over and over.
Talk about going around in circles, people need to relax and have a cup of tea or something.
Personally I'm looking forward to hearing from the kid, hopefully the club pump out a couple of videos tomorrow on the new recruits.

As far as I can see(am ignoring a few on her) there's only about half a dozen posts critical of the pick, and a good 100+ posts repeating the "I can't believe people are being critical of a kid on the internet, what bloody hero's I bet they're not doctors, I'd like to meet them irl in a dark alley".
