Am I the only one that thinks putting McGrath in #1 is a bad idea?
Mostly for the added pressure and lame factors.

I'm going on record with

#1 - Jayden Laverde
#14 - Andrew McGrath
#15 - Josh Begley
#16 - James Stewart
#17 - Jordan Ridley
#19 - Koby Mutch
#33 - Dylan Clarke
#37 - Josh Green
#38 - Sam Draper

McKernan, Kelly, Dea to stay.

31? on ice till Mason is ready?

If Laverde and Langford were to change guernsey numbers, it could be:
#1 - Andy McGrath
#14 - James Stewart
#15 - Jordan Ridley
#16 - Josh Begley
#17 - Kyle Langford
#19 - Jayden Laverde
#30 - Kobe Mutch
#33 - Dylan Clarke
#37 - Josh Green
#38 - Sam Draper

*McKernan, Kelly, Dea, McKenna and Walla to stay in their current numbers.
*If Laverde and Langford stay in current numbers then: Mutch #17 & Clarke #19.

We have a 200cm key defender with a lethal right peg who played pretty well this year. Maybe he deserves an upgrade from 36 ;)

Thinking of players who should get number upgrades I thought Lav and Langford would have got them last year maybe they want to keep those numbers. Hartley, McKenna, Dea and Kelly should get upgrades. Tippa also deserves one but I think 43 suits him Haha

No, no and no!:D
Currently 17 is a player killer with all the most recent Seventeens seeing their form go down hill after taking over the number.

Good point, lets give that to either Eades, McKernan or Kelly then seeing as all three are highly unlikely to be on the list beyond next year.

wait, we didnt retire 31?

shows how small a club norf really are then..
Temporarily retired. Not sure what the requirement is to unretire it (one year? two? When his kid gets drafted and takes it over?). How often do father-son draftees take their father's number at Essendon?

OTOH Jay Neagle (34 then 1 just like Merv) and Joe Daniher in 6 are our only two

Tim & Jobe 32&4, Anthony & Darcy 6&28, the Longs 4/13&34, Wallis' 21&46

in round ball they usually number the players per their position on the pitch - ie the 9 is a striker, the 1 is the keeper, 7 defensive mid ect ect

they often refer to the players position on the pitch by his number rather than position... the number 9 is playing a little advanced, or hes now a false 9 - ect

I guess our numbering system is another tradition like the father son thing - that sets our game apart. Numbers rollover in generations due to player liknesses more than position based.

although they can both merge - we had ruckmen as 27 for a while - again maybe that was due to player likenesses more than the actual position.
