THE RETURN of boom Hawthorn recruit Jaeger O'Meara to AFL football appears closer after he took part in an intraclub match at the Ricoh Centre on Wednesday.

And in more good news for the Hawks, new skipper Jarryd Roughead also played, raising hopes he now has enough conditioning to take part in the JLT Community Series.

O'Meara hasn't played at AFL level for two years because of major injuries to his patella tendon while playing for Gold Coast, and the complications that followed. He joined the Hawks during last October's trade period.

The Hawks have been ultra-cautious in both their treatment of O'Meara and their public utterances about him. Previous suggestions were of a round four debut on Easter Monday against Geelong, but if he pulls up well from Wednesday's hit-out then a round one debut in the MCG blockbuster against Essendon on March 25 might come into calculations.

Good luck trying to keep the lid on now!

Come on Ashley Browne - you had ONE job!

I haven't felt this kind of anticipation since waiting for the parents to go out so I could finally sit down and watch Sirens when I was 14...... JOM is the new Elle.

Kids don't appreciate how hard it was to get this kind of action in the pre-internet days. Still remember us all talking about it the next day at school haha.

That's the thing........we go along and watch training, build relationships, talk to key personnel, and at the end of it we don't know the difference between football and baseball so why bother posting training reports.

You should know Number 24, that there are idiots in this world, and unfortunately, on this thread, who, no matter what, will disagree with you. Ignore them. The majority, and faithful Hawk supports, like myself, look forward to readin what you and others have to report. Please keep it up. (Now where did I hear that?)

Agree. This is a melting pot of Hawk fans. Training reports bring joy to the day of Hawks fans (especially those who will likely never get to an intra club practice match). Getting knickers in a twist over a few robs the many. We are all on here for the same reason at the end of the day. We love the Hawks!

Interesting the Ash Browne article on todays intraclub highlights WX only ran laps. I only saw him run laps* when I was down there last week as well. Hopefully there's nothing major wrong

*I wasn't there at the start when I think they were doing basic drills like kick-to-kick etc, so he may have taken part in that.

What I can tell all youse is that Wx, JOR, Mitchell, Howe and one other I can't presently recall did not play. I can tell youse as fact and not mere opinion that if this were a 4 points game they would have been able to play. Therefore the Hawks have only one real injury......Ceglar.
Great news that the list is relatively healthy. Hopefully it carries through to season propper. The medical and fitness staff do a great job managing the group.

Now back to refreshing.

Hey, Number 24: give us a detailed report and I'll come around to your office and fix up your Too Hard Basket.

And I'll get your trust account to balance, if you know what I mean...

Surely you can at least give us a list of names from your perspective. it seems you were one of the lucky ones to witness it .
