You've obviously never had a good Hawaiian before... there are some very bad ones but the good ones are amazing
Syrup pineapple from a can - not for me.

The fruit itself fresh, just cut and eat, one of the best fruits in the world, ever!

But to debase delicious pineapple with canned style and sugar which is syrup, poor indeed.

You are right, I've not had a good Hawaiian pizza.

One other thing about pizza, as a rule, less is more

Pineapple is a lovely tangy bitter/sweet fruit. But it has no place on pizza, or served with meat. What are people thinking?
That is such a British attitude not to use fruit in mains.

pizza with pineapple has always gone together.

One of my local pizza joints (one of nine, and by far the best of them and my favourite) has a blackboard with rules. Rule No. 1: No ham and pineapple.

I'm inclined to agree with you though, I do enjoy a ham and pineapple pizza, I just gotta go somewhere else for 'em

I understand the divide that pineapple can cause on a pizza, me I like a Hawaiian every now & then.

One thing I can't stand is fish n chip shops not putting beetroot on the ole burger with the lot.
So un Oztrayin!

Please note: I'm trying not to crossover into the pineapple on burger debate, BF might have a meltdown if we tackle that one!

Apple in various forms can find be its way into mains. Pears can turn up in a salad. But as MG pointed out, the issue here is pineapple. As for the tinned version (shudder).

As the saying goes "you can't beat a root".
