Anyone else getting sick of the following things:

  • Winning 90% of hitouts
  • Losing 90% of marking contests
  • "Umpire has the ball. Ready for the centre bounce" whenever you look at the player of the match votes
  • 0 clangers in the stats sheet for the AI every single game
  • The AI being wildly inaccurate every single game
  • Having no audible cue to know whether a kick is not 15, play on

Actually having the opposite, rarely win the ruck contest against the AI, but win most of the marking attempts, with a few blunders leading to easy marks for the ai.

Hope they address the inaccuracy in a patch, pretty annoying that they do a Travis Cloke from as close as the goal square.

I know Twistie certainly isn't for everyone but when you watch him play on Legendary the game is actually very smooth.

He's getting slaughtered, I'm impressed that he's not going nuts from it.
 
Managed a 39-12 win over the Bombers as Brisbane on hard in my career mode earlier tonight, might give legendary a shot tomorrow.

I'm finding hard to be a good balance in terms of play between me and the AI but the only issue is the AI misses 90% of their shots at goal no matter how easy they are, from watching videos legendary seems to fix this.

The AI always seem to make the distance when shooting at goal from 50 out which is annoying.

Laid the 51 tackles but just couldn't quite over the line for a free kick.

And below, bad kicking is bad football. Wish there was a shot location graph as half of these would've been <20m out.

This game is quality once you've got it all down pat.

After I figured out how to mark, properly dispose and lock on target and all that, this game became a lot better.

Winning comfortably on hard difficulty, and on a pretty fat win streak online.
 
On the plus side, dobbing this one felt really good.



The set shot mechanics are pretty good I reckon. Because I'm wary of not overfilling the power bar I often drop short, which imo is a good thing as it means not every set shot is a gimme a la Live 1
 
just bought the game off the PS4 store. Havent read this thread since its 60+ pages long, but so far it seems ok.

Played an exhibition match on beginner to get used to controls. Can easily bounce from full back to goal square forming a train of defenders. So hopefully its not like that on harder modes. The game could be slowed down a fraction as the animations especially for tackling seem quite fast. The ball doesnt have enough flight in the air either. The set shot for goal could be made harder? Maybe a ball drop animation where you have to accurately guide the ball down to the boot to strike the ball in the middle of the foot. Moving the marker to exactly where you want it is far too easy.

The commentary needs some passion. Richo is very monotone. And he's not a play by play caller. "He boots it!' is a little embarrassing. And Commetti said "that could be the nail in the coffin" 3 times after i kicked a behind. Need BT or Huddo to lend their voice to the game. Would like to see players drop marks a bit more too. Every has sticky fingers. Is there an option to play a zone defense as opposed to man on man? Would like things to be a little more congested so those chains of handpasses are more effective.

Pretty good gameplay so far and hopefully after a few patches it only gets better.

I'm not a fan. It's nice that set shots aren't a gimme, but this method of achieving that is entirely unrealistic. The punishment for a bad shot from 30-40 metres out should be a behind, not a shot that doesn't make the distance.
 
Have a coach career as the Swans.

Played the first game on Medium, and beat the Power by 200 points because I learned how to mark while playing that game.

Bumped it up to hard immediately, beat the Bulldogs by 6 goals, cleared the Pies by 21 points with a late goal frenzy (margin wasn't more than a goal the entire game), and beat WCE by 24 but only because of the AI goalkicking bug (11.27 - 18.9) and Heeney kicking 4.3 in the last quarter after having 4 touches before that.

It isn't VR,
You'll never get holding the man, kicking in danger, tripping or numerous other rules and infringements in a game. To expect otherwise it's pretty unreasonable honestly.
Every other infringement in any other sport game is basically there, well except for diving in FIFA, because that would ruin the whole game as it is the backbone of the sport itself
 
You've just got to laugh at those returning the game already when most of the issues found will be fixed with a patch.

There are fundamental things wrong with this game that need a complete overhaul, not a patch.

I don't see why you would laugh at people who don't think that this is worth 70-100 dollars.
 
I've seen enough gameplay footage to believe that WW have earnt the ability to make a few more of these (provided they improve and don't go backwards, like DBC17 did in some areas).

I think you'd find a lot less people complaining about marking, if they made gameplay a lot less kick to a pack, rinse and repeat.

It does seem like AFL Evolution is a big step up from AFL Live 2.

I'm not sure... For sure, it looks prettier, but the gameplay seems like a bit of a mess.

Say what you want about the excessive tackling, AFL live 1 was at least a well-balanced game and was super fun online and still a bit of fun against the AI.

Good shout, everyone should pay $30 so the developers have no money to make future iterations.
