Opinion Collingwood is a Corporation and not a Footy Club

Seems like since 2009-2010 that ED and the Board see Collingwood as a Business Only and not a Footy Club,.

All we hear is now about is all about money and how the Club is Making Money and how Proud they are of it.

Then they barley talk about the Failure we have become On-Field and they just Ignore It.

Outside of Change between Walsh to Balme to Gubby then Back to Walsh.

The Board have done no other Changes.

ED just care about making Money for the Club and His Ego. Nothing about On-Field

I just don't like this Stance at All.

They are Celebrating when they don't deserve to

Yep. They treat it purely as if its a business. It doesnt feel like a football club anymore

There's no doubt that we lost some of our heart and tradition when we left Victoria Park. In contrast to previous seasons (pre-game chant, towel waving) the club is putting out some good material about our history this year and trying some better things; wear your old footy jumpers yesterday for example. Unfortunately our on field performances hasn't seen the fans fully embrace them.

Certainly there is some way to go still, but I think fan engagement has been better this season.

One thing I'd like to return is a pre-game lap/tribute to a legend of our club, which we had a few years back. I think there's a clash of sponsors Holden/Toyota there though.

I hope you are right about this, as surely its an area which is easier to fix than some of our other problems.
There seems to be 2-3 new videos or articles each week about past players or our history against other clubs, which is good value. I hope it continues post our 125 celebrations.

Home VFL games being streamed via youtube where replays are more readily available is also a step in the right direction.

Mate, all footy clubs are corporations now. Sad and it sux.

Also the thing that annoys me the most is the fact Eddie and co refuse to go above the footy department tax. We are one of the richest clubs if anyone can afford it I'm sure we can.

Why don't we have a specialist ruck coach to help mentor Grundy?

Now I could be wrong but where does our membership money go? Surely we get some say.

I don't mind us making us much money as we can.. helps with facilities.. getting the best fitness staff.. top shop pre season trips.

Where we got it wrong.

Mcguire was never a predident.. he should have been in charge of marketing.

A president who steers clear of anything to do with the football department. That's what was needed.

I think it's on the Collingwood media channel

MagpieBat has embedded this week's match in the VFL thread, otherwise here's a modified link (so it doesn't embed). Just remove the brackets to make the .com normal.

Went Here:

and No Replay There.

Thought sounds like MagpieBat has a link from the Collingwood Web-Site that links to the Video. Have not seen that Before

I've no issues with the corporatisation of the club as such but they seem to have lost sight of their primary goal. i.e. to win football matches and ultimately premierships. If judged by on field success most corporate boards would have made staffing changes by now. Regardless of how respected both Ed and Nathan are, in terms of meeting their goals they've failed.

I have to agree, some of the life/fun/atmosphere has been totally sucked out of the match day experience. Some of that may be results but I remember going to games in 98/99 & 04/05 and it never felt as hollow.
Haven't been for a few years. Sounds like I'm lucky.
I remember the "match day experience" being....talking to my family/friends about what we were about to see.
At the first break, half time, three quarter time talking to my family/friends and importantly, opposition supporters around me, about what we have seen and what we expect to see.
For me this was the best part of going to the footy, interaction.
And can I say that the future, without that interaction/banter with opposition fans will lead to the separation of the fans just like soccer.

They have lost it big time. Why have we got a netball side? We should be focusing on football and football only. We dont need to branch out. It's distracting us from our main focus, winning football games

I'm pretty sure that lots of supporters told him that they didn't want the club paying a cent of the tax. In this case it might be just him following the wishes of supporters?

(not my opinion, just putting forward an alternative view).

What is a Collingwood? It's not the people who work for the corporation, who are so easily disposable no matter how great their fleeting adulation for past deeds.

Ed has been a magnificent President. He saved the club for god's sake!

Yeah ages ago.

You just can't keep anyone that long at the Club.

He is part of the Reason why we are going down the ShitHole On-Field

Vote him out then.

Vote him out then.

There needs to be an opponent willing to take him on first. He has never had to face reelection.
How many on the current board have? But if he did have an opponent who had some nous I'd vote for them.
Ed's been there too long. Time for fresh ideas & to lose the jobs for the boys mentality we now have.

If i haveto hear about United Petrol one more time on gameday im going to run on the field and punch that blue f*ck in thw throat....
