Scandal-plagued education provider Acquire Learning goes into administration

Acquire Learning, a company which once boasted former AFL boss Andrew Demetriou as its executive chairman, went into voluntary administration on Friday on the verge of insolvency.

Back in 2014 the company was rumoured to be considering a $700 million sharemarket float, but this week was "either insolvent or about to become insolvent," according to newly appointed administrator Barry Wight, of Cor Cordis.

I wouldn't be getting too excited.

CareerOne had the front of our guernsey for away matches (of which today is one, clearly) and obviously as of this past week they're unable to continue paying us for that privilege.

As such, there's a space open on the front of the guernsey for the rest of the season.

We would've gone to Virgin, an existing partner, and offered them that advertising space as a show or gesture of good faith to hopefully expand their partnership into the second half of 2017 and into 2018.

Don't be surprised if we sell that space a couple of times for one, two or three game blocks, knowing we've got to cover the back of the guernsey for home matches, too.

If it were up to me I'd be picking up the phone to:
- SAP. A multinational, billion dollar company which has looked to build it's profile in Australia in the last 18-odd months and is known for sponsoring sport all over the world. They'd have a couple million dollars a year under the couch at reception.
- one of UPS, DHL or StarTrack. A war is brewing in this market, with parcel delivery already the biggest money spinner for AusPost and everyone in this space jockeying for supremacy. Competition in this space for customers is fierce and branding between an elite sports club and such a business is nice and easy (delivers, quick, pacy, dependable... imagine a print or TV ad with our players accurately, quickly etc delivering and handling fragile parcels). Could also do a nice deal to deliver membership items/merchandise orders using that service in specially branded bags.

Agree on SAP, though I'm not a huge fan of their software.

Is that Virgin being confirmed as upgrading permanently to major sponsor, or just for this week?

What about their existing Platinum sponsorship?
No idea re: Virgin. Just guessing the Club offered the front of the guernsey - which they needed to fill - as that show of good faith, which they might hopefully leverage into an expanded or upgraded partnership for the remainder of 2017 and beyond.

As I said above, I wouldn't be surprised if we see those vacated blocks (front of the away, back of the home) filled by a number of businesses before years end, sold in 2-3 game blocks.

Sorry, I should note I posed those questions before I saw your post.

I agree with you that this language suggests they're not permanent major sponsors, and that we've at best had them pick up a few extra weeks of the major sponsorship on top of their existing deal.

Still, as long as we are recouping what money we lost this season we still have a lot of time to replace that with a permanent sponsor from 2018 onwards.

Hell our development might give us a good chance to earn more dollars on a new deal going forward.

We can smash this in.

My read is they didn't pay us a cent for this.

Thought the same as a new higher partner however the reading of the intro of Virgin on the jumper seemed to be a thank you initiative from us.

But then they appeared behind Bolt's in his presser (though a hole needs to filled for the banner).
