My read is they didn't pay us a cent for this.
If this is a case I like the move, rather than leave Career one on their after officially pulling out, reward an existing sponsor with the hope the upgrade. My read too. This was effectively carltons way of making sure the front sport wasnt just blank and rewarding an existing sponsor - perhaps with a hope that they'll upgrade, but with no commitment from the sponsor to do so at this time.,

It seems like they are running a bequest program now to fund the football department? My Dad got a letter and brochure about leaving something in his will to them. I would rather we tried something like the Fighting Tiger Fund to raise additional cash from supporters.
or a charity, **** those guysProbably not the worst idea, I would imagine footy and CFC brings so much joy to many peoples lives that a lot of fans would feel they want to leave a little bit to the footy club. Far better than leaving it to a church or distant relative you rarely see.
How is old is your Dad if you don't mind me asking. It seems like they are running a bequest program now to fund the football department? My old boy who is 70 got a letter about leaving money in his will to the club. He didn't take it too well.
Apparently Richmond do a similar thing.

I don't like it.
Yep. "Hey you! You might die soon, wanna givvus some money?"Nor do I. I reckon it's pathetic, actually.

I have absolutely no issue with the club having a bequest program, but IMO they are clearly overstepping the mark by actively promoting it to the elderly in our supporter base.
To be fair, it's not only the elderly
What does the letter say?I received a letter today inviting me to attend a function at Princes Park on 12 July. I can take a guest as well. Of course, the bequeath program is the purpose of the invite. However David Rhy-Jones, David Glascott, Geoff Southby and John Nicholls will be in attendance. A couple of coffee, sandwiches, cakes and Carlton legends. Nice. I'd be disappointed if this turns out like a 'time share' function where excessive pressure is put on those who attend to leave money to the Carlton Footy Club. I might have to go so I can provide some feedback to BF.
Not a great deal more than what I've said. RSVP and brochure as well. All donations via the bequest program go into an investment fund and the income earned on such investments shall be applied only for the benefit of football programs. If you decide to bequeath an amount to the club you become a member of Blues Forever. While you're alive and kicking this means you receive annual benefits, information and access to the club's bequeath officer. What does the letter say?
Still feels icky to me.Not a great deal more than what I've said. RSVP and brochure as well. I'm not sure. I'm not a morning person. Each to their own concerning a view on this type of practice. It doesn't worry me and I doubt that it would be a high pressure sales pitch.Still feels icky to me.
Do you think you'll go to the function? I'm intrigued as to how much they'll push it, or if they won't mention it at all and just hope for the best.
It doesn't have to be - promoting it to anyone is ugly. That the club is actively promoting it to the elderly supporters of our club is particularly shocking.
Most clubs have a bequest program.
And of course they are promoted to the elderly. They arent going to promote them to kids and pets now are they.
