I just can't get into Saad.
Yes, he is the right type for us, just not sure he's the right type.

I'm probably wrong but would much sooner get what we need from within and not trade for him.
I'm not sure what you mean here, could you clarify?

I think he plays a bit looser than I'd like in a back pocket, but it depends entirely on who he's replacing. Doc, Tuohy or Simpson (Simpson to retirement, Doc to the midfield; we haven't replaced Tuohy's role yet, and it's shown this year). If the coaches think they can turn him into a version of the Melbourne Jetta, I'm all for it; he doesn't get beaten one on one, does the defensive stuff well, and doesn't turn the ball over. No fuss, gets the job done; the only thing that stands out about him is the fact that he does it every single time.

I feel he plays for himself, but that may just be the GC way.
His run is eye-catching out of defence, but not sure how good and disciplined a defender he really is.

Shouldn't be saying this as it's just a observational snapshot and not for watching many GC games.

All that coming from a place where they still travel around on paddle steamers...
Without them we are just another town on a river. Makes us kind of famous.

We're crying out for some pace at the moment - one of the things yet to be seen this season is some blistering run out of the back or off the wing. We're extremely one dimensional in that regard.

Enter Pickett..............thank you.

Yeah i think part of the reason we have so many tall defenders and play such a one dimensional style is simply because we don't have the personnel.

I reckon kick/mark control will be our main method but we'll mix in some handball run & carry every now and then to mix it up...similar to Hawthorn.

We need more small running defenders we don't have enough. Sheehan and Buckley aren't going to make it and Simmo prob only has 1 year left...which leaves us with just Docherty, Williamson & Byrne.

what is Saad worth and how do we get him?

A Saad and Matera package? 2018 2nd rounder or the Casboult compo if we get band 2?

A net result of Saad & Matera for Casboult would be a good deal. Both in the right age group and we need players in their positions. Saad has speed and Matera has small forward tricks that none of our others have.

A 2 for 1 deal is also useful since we have quite a few players possibly to move on.

Good thinking but that deal sure looks skinny, from the outside.
Not sure Gold Coast would care to be losing more players this year and probably not contracted ones.

What's a movie??

We are still waiting for this awesome thing we have only just heard about ... it's called electricity. Apparently, it allows you to continue having light even after sundown!! Amazing stuff!!

We've still got Quentin.

Bugger nearly ran me over in Rundle Mall this arvo!!

I dont know for sure since i don't follow GC very closely but it seems Matera is out of favour? So don't think he'd really add to the cost at all.

I rate Saad as about a pick in the mid 20's...so i think our 2nd rounder from Casboult (if we get it) or our 2018 one for him and Matera is about right.

It is a bit worrying that Matera has never really cemented himself at AFL level in his entire career...but he certainly has talent so i'd definitely be into him if he comes cheap, which he should.
