Bullshit. It absolutely was sufficient, just as this was sufficient enough to cop a week.

Haha, until the tribunal decided it was insufficient force.

Look, there's definitely some grey area there, but Greene didn't need to do what he did, and it has the potential to cause serious injury. He will get reprimanded by the MRP, and rightly so, whether you like it or not.

Everything you do on the footy field has the potential to cause serious injury. He broke no laws, unless protecting your own space and body has suddenly disappeared from the rule book.

He made unnecessary contact to an opponents face and was correctly penalised with a free kick against. The act is also a classifiable offence under the MRP guidelines that have been posted in here. Greene has a duty of care to other players. He breached it.

Best make it non contact.

Tin foil hat ladder predictor time.

We could lose to Collingwood and the Bullies and then our finals chances would very likely hinge on the Cows choosing to beat West Coast in (for Adelaide) a dead rubber.

Never mind the disturbing imagery.

This is at the very least the same as a high fend off with an arm that should be paid as a free kick 100% of the time... so, the free kick is correct - it will just be interesting to see if the tribunal deems it to be intentional because if they do, Greene could be out for the rest of the year with his bad record.

Watching GWS kicking inside 50 to forwrds who seemed to be inside 50 (not gut running back from defending) kinda made me realise how bad our game plan is - why can't we just play more positional football, rather we blaze to the pockets.... gggggrrrrr

Hem it in the pockets n' hold it inside 50 the boundary is ya friend vs Hit leading targets & kick goals

Hem it in lads! froward pressurey

So should we look at stopping the specky aswell ??
Good point. It is perfectly ok to knee an opponent in the head (and possibly concuss/very high impact) in a marking contest and a free is never given. Duty of care doesn't seem to come into it. It's an anomaly of our great game.

People seem to think it was a mark. It was a handball. What would happen if you put a straight arm fist up into an oncoming opponents face? Toby will probably get suspended. It looked like he punched a hole through his cheek. Ouch

It doesn't change the rule.
He will be suspended because of the look, not the law.

Forward pressure - such a bullshit game plan, especially when Plan A +B and C if the other team gets a run on means everybody defend!!!!! - then we get a break kick it to.................................insert crickets............................insert crickets............................... (probably the oppo waiting out back - just pick one of the three defenders there).................. How about we get back to basics, leave bloody Gray and Dixon inside 50 all the time?

I should be a coach, can't be that hard can it?

I don't see where the law covers a kick to the face. You're allowed to raise a knee in a marking contest in order to protect yourself but Greene was actively kicking away in an attempt to push Dahlhaus off, and copped him high. Don't be surprised if it comes in as higher than low impact; it was a fair whack and there's a reasonable probability of an underlying fracture.

That's a damning stat isn't it, been the same all year - but lets keep trying the same game plan because that's what we decided in December last year!

and to think we have a forward like Eddy who can't get a game simply becuase he can't run up and down the field all day? boggles belief doesn't it.

if Ken keeps his job and rolls the same garbage next year he'll be sacked mid-year - then Bass can do his job properly. Nobody else seems to be able too.

I haven't see a kick like that on field since Eric Cantona:

Dahlhaus shouldn't have run blindly into a boot. Should have been aware of his surroundings and that Greene was going to protect himself. Just like that hit in 2013 of Hartlett on Tape, Tape should have been aware of his surroundings

I see nothing wrong with what he did. You have always been allowed to raise your leg to defend yourself when taking the ball. Dalhaus had a choice to either stand back or try to spoil and risk a foot to the face. He choose to run into his foot with his face.
