Not many people would know the meaning of "bougeouis" because it doesn't actually exist in any dictionary of any language anywhere. I do love the suggestion though that the word came into being as the result of autocorrect because I have been looking everywhere for a spell checker that invents words. For instance, I'd love to have my autocorrect replace the word Richmond with "Ninthmond" because frankly, despite that word not actually existing, most people recognise it far better that "Richmond". Another example would be "Carlscum". Who hasn't seen that word before and of those who have, who didn't immediately know exactly what it means? Anyway, if someone can direct me to this spell checker I'd be very grateful.

Imagine someone holding up a banner.. 'Sack Buckley'.. they'd either get bashed.. be ridiculed in the papers.. or be asked to put it away. Yet Arsene Wenger a loyal servant of the Arsenal FC who has given his life to the club.. has aeroplanes holding signs to sack him. We can't even write on an A4 piece of paper to sack this bloke.

That's a bit extreme. The "you're for us" or "against us" approach bans discussion or other view points. It's reasonable to look at other situations - I want the Pies to succeed - if Buckley brings success, well that will be great. PS tks for the "bro" bit anyway.

All I am saying is, there is a time for debate and time to fall in line. I am all for debating issues before decisions get made. Once they are made we should all do our best to make sure they are the right ones. I can assure you, if Bucks fails I will be the first to do my utmost to make sure that both he and Eddie fall on their swords!

Fair enough mostly - though I've never found it easy to "fall in line". I agree there is a case for the club / Buckley to be given "clean air" to get on with it. However, given what Cwood is and how (mainly Ed) have managed things, not sure that's gonna happen. If our on-field performances show marked improvement next year the critics will fade away. If not, the Middle East will look like a picnic.

Edit: There is historical context for the Middle East reference. When Ranald Macdonald appointed Peter Bahen (from the Australian Ballet Co) as general manager of Cwood, Bahen commented at the time that it was "like being the mayor of Beirut".

think the general thrust of the article is that some people see Brisbane being positioned for improvement (here's hoping they're wrong).

LoL...club who has been on the bottom for 3-4 years, just won the spoon, are poised for improvement!

That is the problem with Bucks, him actually keeping us at 9-10 wins is seen as rubbish.

It all depends on how you see your role as a Collingwood fan - and that is entirely self defined.

(1) If you see your role as being 'Grandma' - then it's all about being positive and being supportive no matter what. The club and the people in it can do no wrong. Some fans take that approach and that's OK, that's their choice.

(2) If you see your role as being 'Caucus' - suspect this is you - then it's all about debating the issues - viciously fighting them with the intensity of a blood sport - but then once a decision is made then the caucus comes out in support of the position/decision and all will defend it to the death. Some fans take that approach and that's OK, that's their choice.

(3) if you see your role as 'Auditor' - then it's about holding decision makers to account without fear or favour. Every decision is judged on merit. A bad decision remains a bad decision. Credit is given when it's due for good decisions (obviously good/bad is subjective). Some fans take that approach and that's OK, that's their choice.

(4) If you see your role as 'Marvin' - then it's all about seeing the negative in everything. The club and its people generally can't do anything right - except on those very rare occasions when they do and it is expected and satisfactory. Some fans take that approach and that's OK, that's their choice.

There are probably more types than that ...

... the point is that we are all different, we all see the job description of Collingwood fan as being a different thing ...

... so little wonder we often disagree about outcomes and what's going on and how we should respond to it all. Particularly in this era when things aren't going well.

When the club is doing well then all the fan types get along just fine and dandy.

If I look at that the way some look at comments about the players openly declaring their support of Bucks, the comments from opposition players to Zorko are hardly going to be negative, are they?

I haven't comment on his reappointment yet. It's not the decision I would have made. Hope I'm wrong.

I'm of the opinion that Bucks has never deserved any of his appointments as Collingwood's coach. Was promised the job when he had no experience or proven history, and has taken us backwards every year since (okay - if you're going to argue semantics, "he has yet to take us forward". A draw doesn't count as an extra win). In a results based job, it's hard to argue the case for keeping him.

However, someone pointed out the other day that we were three goals shy of making the finals. An extra goal in each of ADE, GWS and Melb (QB) then we make the finals, we're several places up the ladder, and suddenly Bucks looks a whole lot better. From that perspective, if the club have reviewed the footy department and honestly decided (questionable... Ed is always spinning something...) that there're factors within that worked against us getting those extra goals, and they think they've got several changes in mind that will enable us get them next season, then the decision to keep Bucks doesn't seem too bad. If nothing else, we end up better off with an improved footy dept and better assistant coaches, regardless of who the senior coach is.

The good performances we showed at times the last couple of years, coupled with the above angle are almost enough to convince me he's our guy. A good start to next season may tip me over the edge. Hope so.

However, one of the main problems I've got with the decision is the constant comparisons to Richmond and Geelong keeping their embattled coaches. Geelong went on to be one of the best teams EVER , and Richmond (except for 2016) were never that bad to begin with (they are still yet to go far in finals, let alone win one under Hardwick), and had an easy draw this year. Hopefully that's just Ed spinning things again.

You are right on so many levels but I have reached a point in life where I only worry about things I can control. I can't control if Eddie gives bucks a 2 year extension. What I can do is be positive or negative and I choose to be positive.
