SSM is NOT illegal.
Marriage is a contract, the law does not recognise a SSM contract.

Same sex couples can marry, they won't go to jail for it. There is no legal sanction for same sex couples marrying.
The law simply does not recognise their marriage contract.

I would prefer a majority, 65%+, voting yes followed by the govt trying to justify why they won't move on having a vote despite the yes vote majority.

Then an election can really sort them out.

Why is less than 70% a failure? The process is so flawed and designed to disenfranchise the youth vote that I'd be shocked if it wasn't less than 70%.

As long as a majority YES is found that's really all that matters. The survey is simply self indulgent w***ery by the government to say they "gave people a say" and to appease a few hard right ****wits within their own party.

The polls conducted over the last 10 years are a much greater indication of the true will of the people not this silly farce.

You aren't too bright are you. The vote is skewed because it is sent to people's enrolled address. Young people are more likely to move regularly and not have a fixed address unlike older people with fixed addresses. Their enrolled address is more likely to be different to the place they are actually living.

Didn't say anything of the sort.

It's a bit hard to fill out paperwork that you don't ever receive because it gets sent to another address.

Polls indicate 60-70% do favour it (which are unquestionably more reliable than this survey will indicate, which is voluntary and unreliable). A majority is all that's required (that is the government's own parameters to allow a free vote).

Just because the stupidity of this process doesn't return a 70% result doesn't mean its a failure at all.

YES has to work within the stupid process that this government set.

And it sounds like you agree the same logic that demands people agree to SSM (equal rights, consenting adults, don't judge other people's relationships etc) also suggests that we should be able to marry siblings.

No it doesn't. As I tried to explain, their are strong biological reasons for not marrying nor having relationships between siblings. No one is advocating for it & it would not be allowed for those very strong biological reasons.

If the No have concerns, please say why SSM is such a problem. Dont try & conflate issues not related to SSM, thats the problem. Dicks like Abetz on about free speech & freedom of religion. What about freedom from religion?

Maybe discuss the relevant issue rather than the diversion & distraction the No people are trying on. The dishonesty is palpable.
