Meh why bother? Just a game. Someone will win , someone will lose...sun will come up the next day and it will be trade talk for 2 full weeks from then on. You see, it really dosent matter.

A lot of the posts here are pretty dated so I might pick some brains on more up-to-date opinions. I'm planning on doing the MCC walk-up this year for the first time, so a couple of questions based on the wisdom and and experience of others here. What time do you think it will be necessary to line up on Friday night/Saturday morning in order to:
a) get an allocated seat?
b) get in at all?
Much appreciated lads.

Given the # of Richmond MCC members who will be more desperate than anyone to get in, the wait could be ridiculous.

Personally, I'd be going Friday morning - should be doable as you Vics have a public holiday I believe. If not that, then definitely Friday after dinner - but that could be cutting it too late.

Playboi Carti out now on all streaming services!

If you want to guarantee you get a seat that's not on level 4 (and level 4 is pretty terrible because the front half are all pre-sold) I generally recommend getting there around 4am. If you want particularly good seats or you're with a bit of a group get there earlier, if you're by yourself you can push it back. You can probably even get there just before the gates are opening at 8 and get a seat on level 1 if you're by yourself and willing to be a bit of a prick to people trying to hold seats. If you don't mind sitting way up on level 4 generally they're not all given away until 10 or 11. Things could be a little busier this year because of the Richmond factor but at the same time they're playing an interstate side with minimal MCC representation so I think it will roughly balance out.

Getting in at all should be no worries, there hasn't been a lockout in the grand final since 2000.

Great stuff Ped, thanks. Coming from interstate so will be playing it very safe and probably camping out. If the line's negligible Friday evening probably catch a band and beers over the Corner and come back.

Cheers Carti. Won't be taking any chances that's for sure.

You want a quality seat on level 1 or 2, get there at 4:30am-5:30am.... you should be able to get a good seat.
I wouldn't be getting there any later than 10am if you want to "guarantee" yourself a seat.

source: Lined up in 2016 at 6am and got middle of the ground level 2 seats. Have attended multiple recent grand finals.

The trick is to make out you belong there. Wear a suit and act confident and bob's your uncle, you can walk straight into a grand final :thumbsu:

Too sneak into the MCC?
You have a better chance of getting picked to line up for the Tigers or Crows than that occurring....

Never understood why they have walkup.

If people are so keen on queuing up, why not just have those tickets sold only at a venue / ground (no phone / internet) when they go on sale earlier in the week?
Walkup is the major appeal of the Mcc. If you're keen enough to get there early you're guaranteed a grand final ticket
