I believe this was decided weeks ago, in principle of course. I have no information, just putting 2 and 2 together. It makes sense that the reason he did not have a contract offer from Geelong was because it had already been agreed to part ways weeks ago. I have no idea but I'm wondering if they would have had the cap space for Ablett and Stringer if Motlop had stayed? Dangerfield's jibe about living in Adelaide to Motlop, I think, wasn't intended for us in general but for Motlop who knew that he was going to Port. After a good finals series, I wonder if the Cats are not regretting his loss?

I agree. So much talent but if he was able to produce regularly........You think if Geelong can't get him to perform consistently then nobody can? He does fit a need at Poort as does Rocky but they also have a lot of players already that go missing for no reason. Thinking Polek, Impey and Wingard.

Motlop is a great player, but workrate and consistency is not something Port players are known for, and that's his issue.

Devon Smith and Kennedy to Carlton, they'll probably need our help to do that. Rocky is an interesting one, not sure he has the legspeed to play the way Port want to play, Motlop definetly but not Rocky so much.

Both would cost a pretty penny too, and if they're into Watts I'm not sure where they get the cash. Lobbe off the books will help but he won't net any trade value.

Monfries, White off the books. Likely moving on Lobbe (and maybe Young) and players have fixed salaries not aligned with the salary cap increases. Apparently Port and WCE did that.

Don't need trade value for 2 free agents. Watts wouldn't demand much trade value either.
