Traded Bryce Gibbs [traded to Adelaide] - (cont. in Part 2)

Nope, we relied on shrewd knowledge of what we needed, and what the clubs around us needed and/or were targeting.
And a general idea of where the player we wanted was likely to go.
Whilst this may be the case, it feels completely hypocritical for your position to be "we should keep the highest pick we have because we don't feel it's worth giving up" and then in the next breath suggesting high picks aren't important so we should take a lower pick.

If Adelaide are so brilliant at picking the eyes out of the draft, then just pay the picks Carlton ask for for Gibbs...and weave your magic with the picks you have left.

I do know what you mean but the only player that GWS would even consider that would be is Ryan Griffin But what you dont realise is that Griffin only has 1 year left on his deal and he wanted to live in sydney thats why he selected GWS

Who els would the GWS want to dump the salary ?

You wont get Smith & Kennedy for a 2nd rounder lucky to get 1 of them

Much like the Marchbank trade, we can expect some convoluted swapping of later picks to help GWS out with points. This will be the case imo even if SOS is using picks from a Gibbs trade.

Lots of ifs and buts there.

If we're desperate for him, you might be right. But i don't think there is a desperate need for him with the emergence of both crouch brothers.

Last year neither were established and our mids were much less established or set in stone.

Oh yeah, and he's turning 29. He isn't up and coming. He isn't in the middle of his prime. He's nearing the end of his career in 2-3 years, at a point where form tends to taper off.

And again he's not exactly an out and out gun. Even at his best he's never made AA.

So how exactly is a pick 20-25 unreasonable?
How many players make the AA team each year in bottom 8/10 sides? Very few i'll give you that tip for free. It is a completely fabricated award, if two players have identical seasons they will give the nod to the player who played finals. Pointless discussing the worth of Gibbs with an ignorant Adelaide fan, you will either cough up Pick 17 + something or Pick 10 will be the deal that goes through if it goes through.

Don't bore me with your pointless arguments, we will see who is correct in a few weeks time.

This.
Carlton are doing themselves no favours for their future in a player welfare sense or a playing list sense.

What player is going to want to go to Carlton after seeing them hold Gibbs against his will, possibly for a 2nd straight year.

I'd be betting 2 or 3 this trade period and possibly as many again next year. Players do not give a shit about this. Cats fans were saying the same of our club if we didn't roll out the red exit carpet and let them get Danger without trading. It's rubbish and it's infant level thinking.

He's had ten years of trying though. So in ten years he's never been in the top bracket of players for his position.
OK, how many club champion awards? Kinda hard to justify that he's worth a first round pick when his history is "good but not great".

Bernie vince was traded to Melbourne at a younger age than Gibbs for a pick in this range, and while Gibbs is a slightly better player, it's not by much and he's now older.

Like I told you before you replied, I am not going to debate the value of Bryce Gibbs with an ignorant adelaide fan. You must think talking down the value of a prospective recruit will somehow mean you get them cheaper when trade week comes, unfortunately our clubs important people don't come to bigfooty for trade advice.

He will be traded for the value I mentioned or not traded at all, all other discussion is pointless.

One would have to be a bloody idiot not to understand the value of a quality player like Bryce Gibbs.
Experianced, skilled, durable, good athlete with a beautiful kick. In
a top team will give at least 4 very good years. That's the type of player one pays the right price for as simple as that.

This thread is truly embarrassing to read, the salt and ignorance levels are so high.

Gibbs gets traded only if the deal is a win for Carlton, otherwise he is a far more valuable commodity for us. It really is that simple and all the posturing and rigmarole on the contrary is just hot air.

Much like the Marchbank trade, we can expect some convoluted swapping of later picks to help GWS out with points. This will be the case imo even if SOS is using picks from a Gibbs trade.
Sorry but dont think GWS need any later picks for points , They actually need a 1st rounder which they dont have

Your theory doesn't make sense, Can you specify exactly how the trades will work without picks for Gibbs coming in

Our 2nd next year will still be 20-24 in the draft, maybe our 3rd this year as well but it really doesn't matter too much.

Griffin will be pushed out the door to free up half a mil for the kelly contract, when your club doesn't want you and you still want to be paid you go where you are told, he wanted money without attention and he can have that in our VFL side.

So by freeing up some cash for GWS allowing them to hold maybe one more player that would have been squeezed out next year we get Kennedy and Smith for 20 + 39 instead of 20 + 24. Contrary to popular belief we have 3 f/s selections coming in 2018 so our need for picks outside the first round is very limited, our 3rd/4th/5th round picks will select those 3.

Sorry but you really have no idea on how it all works, He is contracted and has another year - He doesnt have to go anywhere and the club cant do a thing about it.

All they can do is not play him other wise he can sit at home and collect $500k GWS cant trade him if Griffin doesnt want to go

Your trade Scenario is delusional mate - No chance your getting Smith , Kennedy for 20+39

GWS will be dealing with multiple clubs in trade week, there's plenty of ways for them to get into the first round that don't involve Carlton.

Without picks from Gibbs, a possible Kennedy trade could be 2018 2nd & 2017 3rd for Kennedy, Smith, Griffen & 2017 3rd. Take Smith out (which most Carlton supporters would be more than comfortable with) and it's straight swap, Kennedy for next year's second. Expect a complicated package deal because that's Silvagni's thing.

None of this is wishful thinking, it's based on Plowman, Sumner, Philips and Lamb + 2015 pick 8 for 2015 pick 28 and 2016 pick 15, and the aforementioned 2017 Marchbank, Pickett and 2017 2nd round pick for 2017 Geelong first + later picks with a 'separate' trade of Palmer for pick 135. There's plenty of way to skin this particular cat, as you'll find out when the deal goes down with minimal fuss in a few weeks' time.

What you are not getting is that the GWS team had to reduce numbers and needed to off load players - Thats why you ended up getting deal like this to both off load contracts and players.

This is no longer the situation and there will be many clubs that will be wanting to deal with GWS , SOS doesnt have exclusive rights
The deals your mentioning are massive unders and wont be the case both Kennedy and Smith are rated 1st rounders and have multiple clubs courting them.

If they select Carlton then sure a deal will get done but it wont be charity handouts and GWS really need to improve their team as they have been shown up to be not good enough with both Adelaide and Richmond having easy wins against them.

It's the same principle, GWS re-signed some young guns and now there's another opportunity to snare a bargain by offering cap relief. GWS have never been into charity handouts (except for Deledio :)) but once an uncontracted fringe player chooses Carlton, they'll have to settle for what Carlton have to offer. They can look elsewhere for that pressure forward/heath shaw replacement/whatever else they're looking for.

Of Kennedy and Smith, neither player can get a game in the current GWS side and Kennedy will be behind Setterfied as well next year. They're both worth second rounders - which is also the opinion of GWS posters in the Matt Kennedy thread.

Anyway, this is the last I'll be posting about it here, we've derailed the thread enough.

Really interested to see what happens in the next week there.

Would ad extra class to the Crows midfield but how do they appease Carlton unless it's a three way trade.

If Gibbs goes than Carlton will hunt Rockliff, Smith, Kennedy and maybe even Griffen even harder.

Trolllololololololololololololol alert.

Do you honestly think it is as simple as "Player X has a contract" they will remain with the club. Why does any player bother to be used as a salary dump if that is the case? Why did Palmer agree to be traded to carlton last year as a dump?

How about we save your bullshit until the trade period is done, we will see what happens and then we can come back here to say I told you so.

So when you cant answer a question or doesnt suit your narrative it becomes a troll alert lol

Which part of my question /s are not genuine and would be considered trolling ?

Palmer's situation is different to Griffin , Griffin actually selected a sydney based team because he wanted to live in sydney

So rather than post like a child perhaps it might be better to answer questions in an adult manner

Don't pretend like you a richmond fan is here for any other reason at all then to troll, Gibbs neither plays for Richmond or is being linked to a move to Richmond so you can cut the bullshit act you aren't fooling anyone.

Once you accept that and move on then maybe we can talk, I told you what will happen and you remain steadfast it can't happen so lets just save the bullshit and see who is correct in 2 weeks time. Of course you being here purely to troll could never be content with waiting for the result, your aim is purely to bait Carlton fans into getting annoyed with your stupid comments.

Welcome to prove me wrong on calling you a troll, all you need to do is shut up until the trade period is done, good luck.

Mate seriously are you for real ???

Rather than talk crap , point out where i have trolled ?

just because Gibbs and Adelaide are not a team i support doesnt mean i cant have an opinion and make a comment

Now you say im welcome to prove you wrong on calling me a troll , But i also welcome you to find where i have trolled in this thread to prove yourself correct in calling me a troll

If you cant then you are just a silly poster that rants because it doesnt suit your narrative and just like a child uses the word troll to think he gets a win in a comment.

Show me where i have trolled or just go to sleep and be a good boy

Are you acting like this isn't attempt to bait me into a response? What would you call it then lol

Carlton will end this trade period with Kennedy and Smith without touching either 1st round pick or being forced into trading Gibbs or any other player for that matter. If Gibbs does go we might trade his pick for both players so we can hold onto next years 2nd round pick. I'll see you at the end of the trade period to say I told you so, doubtful you will be around for comment though.

You see again you are going on a rant without any substance

What do i call this ? Simple is a question about how this trade will happen without trading your 1st pick or Gibbs
So far you have just said it will happen but no substance as to how it will happen and what the trade will consist of or which assets will be used just it will happen

Now you doubt i will be around in 2 weeks ! Really ?
I have been here for over 10 years and have probably close to 15,000 posts - Im not going anywhere

Now lets see if you can answer your claims about these trades - How can Carlton get Kennedy & Smith without giving up a 1st round pick or trading Gibbs. Or your claims about me trolling this thread

I doubt you can answer this question as you have proved so far to have no clue , So if you cant
Then dont bother going on a rant like a child 'AGAIN'

You attempted to bait me with the child/sleep crap, that is trolling no matter what you want to believe. I also haven't ranted once.

We will either trade 20 (2018) + 39 for Smith + Kennedy or pick 17 for them both, either way it will happen. In both cases we keep our 1st round picks and in the 2nd scenario we trade Gibbs once we secure rockliff as a fa to replace him.

You can argue with yourself why it's not going to happen, I'll see you in 2 weeks to say I told you so.

LOL you really have lost it havnt you

Firstly regarding the sleep / child comment that was well advanced into the conversation and not prior to asking you for a constructive reply

Where did you get #17 without trading Gibbs ? After all this is about how a trade can be done without gibbs being traded
So you are rating Devon Smith 24 years old pick 14 + Matt Kennedy 20 year old #13 as valued at #20 + #39 but expecting 2 1st rounders for a 29 year old Gibbs

What doesn't make sense about my question here ?

Maybe they should, you'd have had either Jake Kelly or Jarryd Lyons with our 14. Kelly has had a great year and Lyons showed he's a very good mid when played in there.

Assuming the rumours are true and kennedy and smith have nominated carlton, then i think gibbs is certain to be traded to adelaide.

If gws were to be happy with pick 17 for both players, then i think gibbs would be traded for pick 17.

We could potentially even see a 3 way deal done with adel carl gws.

What happens if the Gibbs trade doesnt happen for any 1 of numerous reasons

Gibbs doesnt want to go anymore
Adelaide decide he is not required after winning a flag

How would Carlton get these trades over the line with no 2nd rounder and hesitant to give up #3 with no trade assets as players

I think the Gibbs trade is required for Carlton more than it is for Adelaide

Not a chance. You are anticipating Gibbs not in the midfield but SPS, Fisher and Cunningham running the show.

This is not going to happen - I view Gibbs as one of the best quarterbacks/deeplying playmakers that kicks goals in the game
