Whilst this may be the case, it feels completely hypocritical for your position to be "we should keep the highest pick we have because we don't feel it's worth giving up" and then in the next breath suggesting high picks aren't important so we should take a lower pick.Nope, we relied on shrewd knowledge of what we needed, and what the clubs around us needed and/or were targeting.
And a general idea of where the player we wanted was likely to go.
If Adelaide are so brilliant at picking the eyes out of the draft, then just pay the picks Carlton ask for for Gibbs...and weave your magic with the picks you have left.
