The draft and some game plan adjustments are more important to our success than the trade period.
Clear, concise and correct.
This thread would operate in a much more balanced way if the truth of this statement could be acknowledged.
In recent years, we have traded in some vitally important players who are playing very significant roles for the team and have fitted in relatively seamlessly with the team.
This year, we're supposedly focused on a brilliant but potentially crocked (and destabilising) veteran, a problem child that his current club is desperate to offload, and a talented but wildly inconsistent swingman who doesn't consistently play a role in which we are crying out for coverage.
I would be quite happy to see us miss out on them all if the price is not right for us.
And I'm with bp in stating that good business at the draft (as we did in '16) and some important adjustments to game plan/structure will be more pivotal in our prospects for success than who we snare (or miss out on) in this draft period.
