If anything the AFL system with the best facilities and access to the best doctors would give him a much greater chance to move past his issues.

Exactly. If a club thinks he has the talent and character to be a good player, they'll put him on a list and rehab his medical issues. Can't see how disconnecting from the AFL system improves his chances at all.If anything the AFL system with the best facilities and access to the best doctors would give him a much greater chance to move past his issues.
That hasn't stopped Carlton before, we did recruit Daniel Gorringe.

Could be 100% right. Doesn't explain why this can't be done while part of an AFL club.He may need to step down a level to reduce the strain on his body from all the training. This might let his body settle down. once he’s injury free for an extended period as a result of fewer physical demands, he might be able to build upon it.
l’ve actually got no idea about what’s best for his body. Just guessing. But l do think it’s a mistake to basically repeat the sort of thanking hawthorn had.
Yeah. Actually Afl clubs don't demand an injured player to go through too much. They design rehab to get the players back to 100%. It's odd to think that the Afl clubs aren't the best place for a player to get back to full fitness.Could be 100% right. Doesn't explain why this can't be done while part of an AFL club.
MS3, Barrass anyone?
Do you have anymore trade rumours? People we attempted to bring across and didn't? Did we have a crack at Schache or Tom Boyd? Etc
Pre Season training starts in a week or two for the young players.Suffering from Trade Period Withdrawal mate?
Trade period is useful as it spares us going absolutely cold turkey at the end of the footy season, since at least there is still interesting footy news.
Sadly we now enter those painful few weeks where nothing footy related is really happening.
Spring ****ing racing carnival!! (Horse racing interests me about as much as Jobe Watson's short list of baby names.)
We wait with baited breath for the draft and after that dies down...

I like AFLW and looking forward to seeing our new line-up .Suffering from Trade Period Withdrawal mate?

The problem with O'Rourke isn't his hamstrings. Sure, he had bad hamstring problems this year that kept him out for a lot of the season, and has had the odd hamstring injury previously.
A far bigger problem is that he just hasn't displayed anything at AFL level - he just isn't good. He's played 18 games since debuting, has only once scored a 6 or higher on the inside footballs - and that was way back in 2014. He had a relatively decent run with injury at GWS and couldn't get a game. Went to Hawthorn, couldn't get a game despite being injury free in 2015. In 2016, he had an injury, but played most of the year and couldn't cement his spot - was in and out of the VFL. He's 24 in April and has never yet played a better than average AFL game.
As a comparison, Sam Kerridge is almost exactly the same age as O'Rourke. After he came back into the team in round 15 this year, he rated a 6 or higher in every match up until the round 23 disaster in Sydney. Basically, Kerridge's average game is the same or better than anything O'Rourke has shown at AFL level.
Had O'Rourke not been drafted at pick 2, he'd be gone from an AFL list by now, and he may still end up in that situation

JOK was a reach at 2. There was talk we might get him with the Menzel pick (Menzel was expected to be gone at our pick) Both are examples of why you don't take flankers in the first round with the hope they will become midfielders. The problem with O'Rourke isn't his hamstrings. Lads should be back training in a couple of weeks, some more news on the horizon > draft night and then into junk time footy wise but Ashes will be in full swing and then the BBL.
WTF is the new fixture date release...
Something new to talk about!Pre Season training starts in a week or two for the young players.
They get 8 weeks off and usually back training around cup week when you don't make finalsReally? Wow, I didn't think they really got started until the list was finalized for next season, after the ND and PSD. Makes sense I suppose, that they should want to stay in shape. These days, can't afford to hit the pre-season carrying too many extra kilos. It's full-on, eh!
Yeah, I like my cricket. In truth, footy comes around again all too quickly nowadays.
I hope Cummins and Starc can stay on the park. We might have a chance then!
I thought o’rourke had quite a few injuries at gws. Hawthorn took him onboard hoping if they got his body right his talent would come through.

There's a point that some players reach where no matter how much of a soft touch the club thinks its applying, they are still pushing certain injury issues too hard because it's a hyper competitive environment and the guy looks healthy.Yeah.
