I’m with DV on this one. Mix was horrible, Funeral Fog was almost unrecognisable for the most part. Hellhammer is a beast but we never even saw him. No danger, no attitude. Not sure why they need 2 guitarists either tbh but that might just be me being picky.

My mate summed it up best - “Black Metal Cabaret”.

Did see a dude getting round in a Pungent Stench t-shirt ha ha. Never seen one of them before!

Which PS shirt? I have three or four. Haha. Black metal cabaret for sure.

Underwhelmed. Sound was terrible at start, could not hear the lead melody on Funeral Fog. Got slightly better but guitars well down the entire show. Wasn't loud - could hear people talking. Was amused by Necrobutcher looking like Marty Feldman from Young Frankenstein. Quite a few 'bro' sorts there too carrying on like they were at the football - 'come on Mayhem', 'woooooooo', 'show us a ritual' and whistling. Do they ID everyone at that place? Was flattered given I am 40. Anyhow, that's my take.

I didn't have any problems with the sound personally, but I get your point about the douchebags in the audience. There's always that element, but thankfully they tend to drop off after a year or two; problem is, they then get replaced, etc, and the ouroboros is maintained.

Also, it was the first time I've seen the band dressed like that (except Hellhammer, naturally). On the previous two occasions I've been to Mayhem, it was only Attila who was in costume, the others were in jeans, t-shirts and leather jackets.

Picked up some Bolzer cds on the way out. Hero, and the Roman Acupuncture and Aura eps.

I didn't go downstairs - what was Mayhem selling? Just the tour shirt? I was thinking to go down to check if they were selling the live cd but didn't get around to it.

Just the tour shirt, poster, patch, etc. I was hoping for the live album, but no dice.

The live be album is hard to find unless you’re happy forking our significant cash.

Been looking for it for a while, too. Wouldn't mind a dvd from this round of touring, due to all the visual stuff they've got going on with it.

I really liked the little tribute to Dead, using the sample from Live in Leipzig to introduce The Freezing Moon.

What did you think of the show?

Black Metal meets Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Dunno maybe we’re a bit harsh, seems to me the older you get the harder it is to reconcile a full production Black Metal show with the original concepts/philosophical platform Mayhem was built upon (and rallied against). How do you think Euronymous would have reacted if he was standing in the crowd?

The whole thing seems a bit gimmicky and contrived now. It’s a bit of a no-win situation for a band like Mayhem.

I ended up throwing in the towel for this one because, screw Tuesday night gigs. I can't do that stuff anymore and front up for work the next day.

^Yeah that was just after the Perth show about a km away from the venue, the whole community is up in arms about it. Poor guy was just minding his own business drunkenly monging out on a kebab post-show.

Their parents are pieces of work too - condoning their 13y/o kids actions and saying the guy instigated it with racism & taunting which is bullshit.

Been cramming stuff like Domgard, Grafvitnir, even some Blut Aus Nord and Inquisition, anything murky with epic riffs to plagiarise as I’ve been chatting with a drummer for a little while keen on doing some studio work. Has put some of my solo work on hold which is nearly ready to record (just been trying to learn the software a bit more) but this guy can play so contemplating using some solo stuff.

Gone from twiddling my thumbs to two projects on the go. Best thing about a project with a drummer is it can very easily turn into something to play the occasional show.

Took car to MB Ringwood for service today. Said ok for 4.30pm pick up. They called me at 4pm asking if they could keep it to Monday as they are really concerned about the low coolant level (I had to fill it circa 3 months ago but the car hasn't notified me it needs more - nor have there been any leaks in garage). Might be something to it, might not. Next part of converstion - 'no we haven't got a loan car'. Next part of conversation - 'no we haven't done alignment as discussed'. Next part of conversation - 'we'll finish service off and call you. Should be another hour'. I'll be a cynic here but it sounds like zero work was done to it today, whether they were understaffed, got stuck on another car or lazy. Surely you'd have a loan car lined up if you were gonna call a customer at 4pm to tell them you want to keep it to Monday Dee Snider

Vent(or)ing.

As someone who works in a similar service role I think that definitely means they haven’t touched it and instead of saying they were too busy they chose to make an excuse instead.

I'd respect them if they said that and had a loan car lined up.

Should’ve bought a HSV[emoji12]

We’ve always gotten a loan car every time we drop ours off. They’d only give you a shitty A200 anyway but I guess that’s not the point.

Make sure you take advantage of the free car wash when you pick it up (presumably you have).
