Impossible in practice. The only time you get a fixed IP to block is if someone has one at home or work. And even the latter wouldn’t work if it’s a decent sized place that may have multiple legit posters. And just switch to your phone and you’re fine. It’s whack a mole.

It was a weird chain of events. Like he went completely off the deep end one night. He had been banned a few times before for relatively minor things but then suddenly turned on his own and went full insane.

It’s not politically correct, but that thread is depressing evidence of why the welfare state unintentionally is undoing the benefits of natural selection. Through human history you’ve needed an advantage - be it strength, intelligence, looks etc - to get to the point your genes will be passed on, with said advantage passed on for the benefit of humanities future generations. Now it’s flipped it so the most successful are too time poor at work to have (m)any kids, but the ‘Chriscoers’ and their ilk go forth and propagate (with families with kids from numerous fathers and badly misspelled names like Jakson and Kristill). Oh what a world to look forward to.

Freakonomics (books and podcasts) are always interesting for a different view of things. I can see that though, if I’m looking at a resume, all things equal and it’s down to a normal and bogan name, unconsciously I’d lean towards the normal. Although if you take it a step further the bogan named individual should probably be the pick, to get to the same place, despite having had parents who were idiots.

The campaigners I'm with decided that they would not charge me for a quarter, but hold back the bill for a full 5 months. They didn't inform me they were doing this either. I had to dig deeper to find out why I hadn't got a bill yet.

Their reason was "we are transferring to a new system and this is causing delays in metre reading", I know others who are with this company that have had no such delays.

Good thing I make payments on my bill weekly, if this had happened to someone who wasn't paying weekly they would be getting a ginormous bill out of the blue - one they probably can't pay.

They sent me a text the next day "we apologise for the delays in reading your meter" blah blah blah. As if that makes it all okay. What if they did this to some poor elderly person, or someone who lives on a small wage? Ridiculous.

We had a live in nanny that was about 200kegs and if it got over 20 degrees Celsius the aircon was on full bore.

When she left our power bill halved and our food bill dropped $150 p/w.

Motto: Always get a skinny nanny/au pair from a warm climate.
