The only reasonable thing he could have done was tackle him and give away a free.

As I said going by the interpretations of the rules nowadays he had to be suspended, but I don't believe he should have been.

A softish precedent has been set.
Nope, AFL stated he had 2 options:
1. Tackle.
2. Run away.

As much as i like hanging shit on Port, it's a dead-set disgrace that it costs money to have a decision reviewed.

Smacks of justice for the rich.

Piss poor from the AFL.
You're talking about a club that spends more than most on senior coaches and fitness gurus.;)

McGovern got to the ball first. How do you go for the ball a split second after someone owns that space?
He had time to pull out, he had time to still go for the ball, he pulled out.
It’s harsh and from the Cotchin comparison it’s unjust but he could’ve still contested the ball.

If he attacked the ball and didn't slow down I honestly think McGovern could have ended up with a broken neck and Gray would have gotten far worse. Gray is not quick so it isn't surprising McGovern got there first and chose not to protect himself by turning his body like you used to be taught to.

This is the lesser of two evils tbh.

For some context it’s fair to use.
Except the AFL let Cotchin get off because at least in the freeze frames it made out like he was sorta, but not really reaching for the ball. Well that, and you don't **** a Brownlow medalist before a GF.

I think you’re stretching it a bit here.

I see Vossy said in today's paper that hte Power game plan changes is a work in progress and will take more than one pre-season. Perhaps a Rucci counter for number of days before the game plan works against quality opposition? Seems contrary to their message that Watts et al will fix the issues.
So what was his big speech at the Port open day?

Just crazy Vossy on a stage shrugging his shoulders?

... er

.... you go for the ball ! It's not netball - there's no "possession" rule

The bleating on the Port board is priceless. Poor Wobbie Diver. They only contested to fire up the unwashed for Round 1 and play the victim once again. It is all irrelevant though as Freo are woeful and the flat trackers will win easily.
