So we minimise the risk of having people have to pay to get here. The statistical chance of Victorian club vs Victorian club (no travel) in the GF is 29%. Victorian vs interstate (half the fans travel) is 52%, and interstate vs interstate (all fans travel) is 19%.No its not. The USA has 250 millionpeople and a huge demand for Superbowl tickets, which is what drives the ticket price. If you had the AFL grand final in Perth, I would expect the ticket prices to be ~30% more expensive. No big deal, it would still sell out.
And thanks for pointing out another inequity - people from Melbourne can get into the game for less than $400 - It would cost me $1000 - $2000 including travel & hotel
Compare that to if the GF was in one of the four states with two clubs
Home state vs Home state (no travel): <1%
Home state vs Interstate (half travel): 21%
Interstate vs Interstate (all travel): 78%
So by having it away from Victoria, you quadruple the chance off all fans travelling, and the chance of no fans travelling is cut out entirely. Bit of a no-brainer as to which is best.
