Getting to the ball first has been a feature of his game since he debuted in '07 - a great trait to have ingrained as a superstar footballer. Rance flopping at the slightest bit of contact is incomparable. Now that he's been charged and found guilty, it'll be interesting to see if he can rectify his flaw.
See above post, pretty much nails it.

Liked: Fyfe being out for next week
GWS vs Ade - not the result but the game itself was great.

Hated: People pretending that certain clubs are the only ones who have scummy supporters who celebrate injuries.
Rance's continual antics - needs to get games.
Umpiring in the Port v Hawthorn game - absolutely ruined the match completely.
Darling's injury.

Learnt: We are shot for the year and our fitness staff need replacing.
This week we may play with only 2 of our top 10 from the B+F last season.
Melbourne and North Melbourne dont look like a flash in the pan.

I’ve seen Ben brown dive quite a few times this year, looking forward to the afl dishing a fine out to him although you just know that ain’t gonna happen.

Falling forward and diving are very very different things.
Rance thrust himself almost into the freaking crowd and did 3 barrel rolls on the ground.

If you think they're close to the same you need your head read.

I dont think you're shot for the year. Like us last year lack of continuity in the 0kaying group hurts fluid ball movement more than anything ln my opinion.
It's not necessarily the big outs for the season, although they do hurt. It's a constantly chandlging playing group week to week. The seasons only half over though, no one knows what the final chapters hold.

The "but he does it too!" mentality is so dumb. (Especially when in this case it's so wrong the people who say it should be tested)

Lifts his arm, opponent contacts head. Free kick every day of the week. Something that didn't happen? So those players aren't contacting his head?
When does he stage? When he throws his head after the contact is made to it? All that bandaging and blood he has had, I'm sure that's all fake too.

Actually this year its not meant to be a free kick.
Every other player in the league doesnt get them any more. Was at least 2 cases in the crows v gws game on the weekend.

However guess who still gets them every time?

Very different to staging however.

You might be able use it when defending Ben Brown one day...oh wait, no you won't. My bad.

Firstly, Brown has never done anything close to what Rance did on the weekend. Secondly, I wouldn’t use such a childish response to a valid discussion.
Thirdly, if anything, you’ve made the whole thing even more lame and off topic. So good job.
Finally, you can’t possibly know for sure that Brown won’t win a premiership in his career, so that’s a ridiculous claim.

All in all, great post.

You can call BBB a diver or stager all you want.

However, the fact remains that Rance is officially a diver and stager and has been sanctioned by the game's ruling body.

You need to let it go.

Rance has done it a handful of times, selwood does it in everyone of his contests for the majority of his career. It’s now just the way he plays and I’m not sure he could stop even if he tried, it’s ingrained in him now. Sad.

Lets just agree that Rance is a diver and Selwood is a ducker.
Both are great players who will, in part, be remembered for their propensity to overplay for free kicks.

Seeing as most richmond fans are as appalled as the rest of us, that argument holds zero weight.

Also because its coming from you and you're known to be as one-eyed and as stupid as anyone here, it holds negative weight (more likely to be false).

We're outside the 8 with an injury list as long as your arm and no real form to go off.
Not to mention I dont think the injuries will 'stop' as such.

I mean yeah Richmond were 7-4 last year but they were a dif team in the 2nd half of the season, and had virtually no injuries in the back half of the year.

We're not contenders this year.

Selwood doesn't duck though. Rance diving is truthful at least, so you get it half right.

After the Hawthorn match;
When asked on Talking Footy whether he feels as though the league has implemented an interpretation of a rule aimed directly at him, Selwood said: “It can look like that.
“We’re in the fortunate position where we get the umpires come out to us and actually explain how the rule is going to be adjudicated.
Hmm, so he was told how they would be adjudicated, and he still gets them. That would suggest that what he does it still a free kick, despite your claim of "its not meant to be a free kick.

At the end of the day a certain legend said it best...
AFL legend Leigh Matthews said it should be up to the tackler to ensure no contact was made with the head.

“(Selwood) Just lowered the body height, some people say that is drawing the free kick,” Matthews said on the Seven commentary.

“I say make the tackler tackle low.”

Leigh said it best, except for the fact that what he said is not aligned with the AFL rules.
If the player has caused the contact to the head its not a free kick...simple.

The fact that other players are not getting the frees for shrugging suggest they aren't meant to be a free kick.

and here it is from the AFL - clear as day: http://www.afl.com.au/video/2016-03-17/2017-laws-of-the-game-high-tackles

No he shrugs, lifts the arm and drops at hte knees.
All things umpires are supposed to look for and NOT pay a free for.

Literally in the first 10 seconds of the video.

Once again nobody questions Selwoods hardness at the ball, or football ability...but like Rance if he continues on this path he will be remembered a lot for the milking of frees (like rance will for diving)

I don't realise Rance had a history of diving. How does he get roundly admired, does he have Goodes Syndrome?

If you call one other incident a 'history' then Rance put a bit of mayo on when he was struck in the chest one game. Other than that though, he has never 'staged'. There are so many players in the competition that regularly act for free kicks, lift an arm to cause high contact, throw themselves forward etc that are never sanctioned. This is why this decision seems biased to Richmond supporters. The only way I can make sense of it is that the tribunal were keen to send a message and Rance's fame made him a perfect target to prove that no one will be spared if they act.
