Brisbane look likely to leapfrog the Suns next week by beating us. That locks the Suns in at pick 2 and us in at pick 1 and the spoon.

Lynch leaves and they get picks 2 and 3 to go with WCE's 1st rounder, 2 x 2nds and 2 x 3rds.

Plus the hand they’ve had in the last few drafts is equal to or better than what we’ve had...It’s not draft picks they need but simpletons in the media can’t compartmentalise anything else!!

I would really, really like to get Shiel this year, just to go into next year with more run and strength in the midfield. And also to remove the whole bidding war thing that will happen next year. I also agree with the arguments to not trade pick 1 for him as well. I guess I am seduced by the hype of the Lukosius talk as well. However, In the back of my mind, I am thinking how much better can he be compared to how Charlie is travelling ATM? If the answer is 'better than Charlie' then trading pick one is not an option, but if the answer if 'yeah probably equal to', then maybe it should be at least considered, if we can can get Shiel and their first. I know on the fence

Lukosius may well be unique, but CCurnow is uniquerererererer.

Players such as CCurnow (what he looks likely to become) , Franklin, Dangerfield and Martin genuinely spook their opponents into giving away frees for fear of made to look silly, being out-marked, out-muscled etc.
I don't think Lukosius will have that ingredient. The King brothers maybe, but not Lukosius and that's not to say he won't be a very good player, but I don't see him striking fear through his opponents hearts.....pr at least not in the way I've described being 'spooked'

Have you noticed … Cripps is starting to do that (draw frees) when he drifts forward … Defences are starting to shit bricks …..

They'll have to pour that mill straight into Kelly and Coniglio's contracts to have any chance of keeping them.
Wouldnt think theyl be grabbing that big a pay rise BF like up to 500 k each .
A mill would go a long way to satisfying the top end its the next rung down and lower end of the list that theyd be vulnerable to losing as a matter of preference .

Sure have. The player who hasn't really got going yet and could be almost as 'spooky' is Petrevski-Seton.
You get two or three guys that can throw you of your own game, life can become so much easier for the whole line.
Yarran could have been one of those players for us. Such a pity.

Very much this.

Lukosius' skills are spectacular, his vision and decision-making elite.
Would love him at Carlton, he'd create so many scoring opportunities for us long-term getting the 2nd best defender and not being the main forward.

At another club being the central target, expected to consistently create a physical contest? I have doubts.

I still feel for Yaz …. so much raw talent …. even when unfit he was good to watch :(

Can you elaborate?

Tongue in cheek comment. I’ve only seen him play the once so admittedly I’m in no position to make a call on the quality of the kid but the way people have been talking you’d think he was the greatest draft prospect in history. He’s undeniably good, but I think it’s a bit rich for people to be making comparisons to Nick Reiwoldt at this stage of his career.

Well you have seen one more game than I have mate? Apart from a shit ton of video that's hard to work through because generally its full match replays or highlights of the team. What did you see at the one game you saw? Its easy to put together a highlight reel of one player over 12 months and make him look like the second coming of Christ.

What were your impressions?

First impressions were that he’s not as tall or physically developed as was expecting. Looks like a Westhoff type. He’ll obviously develop with age, but to what point, who knows? Reads the play well and is a very good field kick. His long kick is good too but technically not great IMO. Kicks with a bent knee like Kreuz. Good set of hands but Charlie is better. Once again, unfair to compare the kid against guys already playing. This is where the experts earn their money I guess.

I reckon there's a good chance they will when the other offers come along for them as well.

Coniglio, like Shiel, will be a rfa.
As will Tomlinson and Haynes.
Kelly and Lobbe are out of contract and will get big offers.
Hopper also out of contract.

They will be in BIG strife to keep them all, Shiel may actually best for them to let go considering he'll get a huge offer from us and that will determine the level of compo they get.

Our biggest names to re-sign by end of 2019 will be Cripps, Marchbank and Harry.

Its almost expected at this point, laugh all we want but they would be looking a lot more attractive than we would right now.

Keep on offering and they will catch something eventually IMO

Well aren't we lucky we aren't trying to get him across today then.

Let's just see how well Norf travel next year. Probably still better than us, but I'd expect us to improve and them to drop which will really close the gap.

Where’s Yaz at these days ?
Wouldn’t mind rookie listing him if he’s gotten his crap together.

"Yarran’s country debut cut short
Former Carlton and Richmond defender Chris Yarran’s low-key Avon Football Association debut was cut short due to injury.

Yarran, who played on permit for Federals, pinged his hamstring five minutes in against Beverley in round two.

Transfer or should I say special permit transfer ….

West Australian Football League (WAFL) Federals Football Club Yarran, Chris Approved 2018-04-11 2018-04-11

The 27-year-old looks unlikely to return for the Northam-based club, currently third on the Avon ladder with a 3-2 record."

Geeze, says a lot if he’s not even playing in the WAFL. Forget about him then.
