The House of Gumby is in disarray. And this week was no difference. The Roys made the short trip down to the slowly rebuilding Gumbies, and were met with a damp cold afternoon, warm beer and soggy pies. The Gumbies started well, keeping up with the Gorillas, but as the mud got slicker and the legs got heavier, the Roys inched away. Rookie hotkorma and the Melt-o-matic SM battled admirably, but the Roys are a well-oiled machine. A droll 3rd quarter allowed the Roys to get enough space and hold off the Gumbies for the rest of the match. xenxen, Stoods and newbie TedDougChris toiled hard all day and were instrumental in orchestrating the victory. The Gorilla machine just rolls on.

Wise Guy Sam and 3KZ is Football welcoming their former teammates but the lovely homecoming quickly turned into a slaughter. A huge first quarter, with 17 scoring shots, set the tone for the match, well mostly the Roys tone. It was hard-hitting and punishing qootball, with xenxen doing her best Gawn impression dominated around the grounds. MannumPower turned back the clock with 4, but the grueling midfield pressure was to much for the Royals. The Royals kicked on late, but the damage was done. The Roys cruised to a 30-point win, and to be fair the Royals never looked likely.

8 wins from 9, the Roys were certainly up and about.

Were we arrogant? Were we too confident? Strange questions to ask the Roy camp, but the answer is most likely a resounding yes. Aside from the Wonders crushing, The Gorillas have been a model of fine qooty. They started the day against the Dragons in much the same way, but as the game continued the momentum start to shift, and by the middle of the third quarter Blaze Storm and the brutal @PhenomenalVI had the Dragons flying. As much as Matt_352 and xenxen kept pushing it was for naught. The Dragons were very impressive, and the BJO home crowd, used to finer things this season, were left bitterly disappointed. After a massive first half of the season, was this the moment the wheels started to fall off? Ha, no.

The Roys needed to get back on track, and a game against the Sweet FA’s big bad, the East Side Hawks looked to be a big hurdle to jump. The Hawks, another side who’d what to confirm their finals credentials after a blip, were also to get their season back on track. Unfortunately you don’t win when it’s a one man show, and although BRAB was utterly brilliant kicking 10, there was little to no support from his team-mates. The Roys however got back to clicking as a team, linking and running in waves, compared to the Hawks long bombing. It was a battle between two styles. In the end the Roys were triumphant, with xenxen, Matt_352, Runk and the other youth leaders breaking the Hawks down. The Roys, content with not just beating up on struggling team, showed that they will take it to anyone.

5 matches to go in the regular season, the Roys looking entrenched in the top 4, but historically this would be where the Roys start to slip. And slip they did. After brushing aside, the Bombers in Round 1, it was the Roys turn to host the reigning premiers. The Bombers with a desire to build momentum with the pointy end of the season coming. The first half was a true arm wrestle, with both sides locked on 34 points a piece. It wasn’t a pretty game, which was compounded by the fact that tony lynn was most likely best on ground. It wasn’t pretty, and neither was the final score, with the Bombers holding on for hard fought victory, getting their season back on track.
