How many old blokes should we play? Simmo, Murphy, Wright, Ed, Daisy, Mullet then add Fasolo, Poppy and Roughhead. Sounds like the Pagan days are coming back...
Hope we can fit them in and add youth in our rumoured 8 list changes.

Would actually like us to field a younger team next year FFS.
Wright fasolo and mullet arent old but nice try

We're after Poppy? even so Wright and Fasolo fight for a spot, Daisy will be fighting for a spot with Willo/Doc/Plow coming back. Mullet will barely play at all. Simmo, Murphy and Ed will obviously play

On top of that, they also managed to get Saad and Smith last off season, both of who we were marked as being in the running for. Having even more players we (presumably) want go to * instead of us would suck.

We missed Saad, but if we get Shiel I will be very haappy.

Essendon-supporting colleagues are very confident this morning that Shiel is on his way to them - a 'done deal', in principle.

Not sure what's happened (if anything) to lead to this, other than someone cleverly linking him to his mate Devon Smith, and putting two and two together, etc.

Think Mullett would be off the list come seasons end.
Hope we don’t bring any in players because they fit an age bracket. O’Shea, Mullett & Shaw ticked off that point last year.

First we're cutting down Daisies and now we have short Poppy syndrome?

Me, as a child, "Mum! I'm borrrrrrred"

Mum, shouting down the hall, "There is no such thing as boredom - only boring people."

It still stings..

If only we had some ex-GWS players on our list for Shiel to chat to....:p

Why would the Hawks give Roughy the boot? He is still a decent player and they are all of a sudden back in the premiership conversation

Will be 32 next year, is kicking ~35 goals a year rather than 60+ from his heyday.

Not saying he is broken, but he is much closer to the end than the start. As shown by the Hawks in recent years, they will happily ship off aging stars before the hit they wall, not waiting for the 'one season too long'.

IF they could land a younger replacement (Lynch?), they would happily move Roughy on.

The decision to release Mitchell and Lewis sort of coincided with the belief that they would be rebuilding. It looks as though they have done the fastest rebuild in AFL history however.

Can we just trade pick 1 for Clarkson?

Ah, please say it ain't so

Gutted, if true :oops::poo:
I wanted Shiel rather a lot, as he's a very good player, but I come back to something I've been saying rather a lot recently.

Who cares?

Shiel's good, but you know who's better? Kelly, who's a FA next year. Fancy offering GWS pick 1 for Kelly outright, or throw in one of the seconds to make things more palatable? How about doing the same to Tobe Greene? Name a marquee midfielder in the competition who's contract is due to expire and who will enter into FA next season, and you will have a prospective player to trade pick 1 for, and that is should you choose to trade it at all.

There is more than a single way to skin a mongoose, and getting stuck on a single target blinds you to every other option you possess. Move on from a player who doesn't want to come and play for us, and onto another option, and that's if you're willing to believe Essendon supporters when they speak.

Wouldnt call it a rebuild maybe a mini rebuild.
They shipped Lewis and Mitchell off so they could fit Omeara and Tom Mitchell in the salary cap .
Then just played a few more younger players than they normally do .
Their senior core of players is still very strong even without Mitchell Lewis and Hodge .

The only question for me is, once you've replaced the head and the handle, is it still the same shovel?
