I don't think we need another tall defender - we have enough trouble getting Taylor, Hendo, Blitz, Kolo and Henry into the one side.

Taylor is gone, Kolo a flanker (and probably not good enough ) Henry's 3rd fwd, med/tall and Hendo is on the edge.
Blitz is an excellent defender.
No trouble when you win like last weekend?

Henderson is coming along very nicely from his 2 surgeries in my opinion....getting better every week now....

As I remarked on another thread, I'll be interested to see how Kelly performs in his first finals experience, assuming we make it of course.

Signs are good, no doubt about that.

His best two games have been at KP .. I think he is slow-ish

Taylor's not gone - he plays next year, and is still a good CHB. I have no idea why people seem to judge him on his form largely at CHF, where he's never really excelled.

Hendo is far from on the edge. Hasn't had a good year this year, but a lot of that can be explained by injury.

Henry is a natural 3rd tall defender. He's being played forward as a stopgap, and wouldn't be there if we still had Ratugolea. I think that's also really Kolodjashnij's natural role - he's played tall over his whole career.

And yes, I'd happily take last weekend's result any day of the week. But the positions we're most in need of filling, IMO, are ruck, small forward, and of course CHF - not the easiest set of spots to fill.

He is putting the peg in the ground ... and pouring concrete around... is going to take something special... and that sort of interview makes that crystal to all
Agree - been my point all along.
Concrete indeed.
If you want to talk.. come bearing many many gifts of GTFO.

Go Catters

I had a peruse on the other Kelly thread ..main board D&T .... the WC supporters have now moved into him staying out of football for 12 months with mental stress issues etc. ... I think they are starting to look like Hans Gruber about to fall from the top of the Nakatomi..I wonder how they feel when they can see him just slipping from his grasp...

so exit stage left and moving on to the next idea.. trade to get Pickett ..who they and we are interested..

We are now locked and loaded for talls next year.. In a cruel razor sharp business way .. we would just off load Harry. No. We must treat him with respect.. I get the vibe he is proud of his link to us... and maybe playing a few games in the two is not the dire event it is for some. Some sort of duel coaching etc. After playing 40 odd players this year.. its pretty obvious that plans are just Gods way of making us the mouse with him the meat and string... Harry after a few games ay demand selection or injuries etc. great but ideally he gets a smooth exit and young players take up his position in a seamless transition. He has shown a unique talent to be a future broadcast commentator..

And he is still one of the best at reading the ball. How he plays in the big games and the big grounds will probably be the ultimate in the judges gavel.

And atm id say we probably need Henry forward more than back... but amazingly his has shown a Blitz like ability to swap roles..I was apprehensive about messing around such a young player but he has handled it so well that several media types have him top 3 in the Rising Star.

Our ruck position probably feels a lot more secure atm... but id be happier with one mature age backup Smith or Abbott and a younger guy to help out. Considering our need for KPF as well then a Williams type probably makes sense in the draft.. but even someone like a Fort or Loersch or someone like that mid 20's would re position the age shape of our rucks.

None of this really affects Kelly however.. so we are getting away for the OP

Hans Gruber - an all-time great movie villain - love that guy

As the title suggests, the constant speculation over a player is pretty normal when it comes to the end of the year, but this whole saga concerning West Coast and Kelly is a different kettle of fish.

Never have I seen such arrogance when it comes to another club's forum. They didn't draft him and now they think they can offer us a compensation pick of 14-18 for a proven player that we got for pick 24, and we should just accept it. Literally starting two or three rounds into the year and not relenting since, is a disgrace and is akin to a child who looks at another kid's toy and goes 'oh I like that one better, I want that one now.'

I don't have a problem if Kelly wants to go home, as it is his right. I do, however, have a problem with some West Coast supporters acting like it's their birthright to have him at their club and factoring him into trade discussions with Gaff - i.e. Gaff to another club, Kelly to West Coast and compensation pick for us. If you're going to poach him, at least offer something worthwhile rather than just expecting us to take compo.

What do you guys think?

I don't post a whole lot here, but read everything daily. I personally couldn't care less what people think. Whatever happens in the future will happen, and what people think has no bearing on the future outcome. IF TK wants to go home, WCE will offer whatever they will offer, and GFC will accept whatever they accept. Who cares about the rest?
