Gaff too now. Don't get my hopes up. Going to be too shattered when we only land McGovern.

Time to sell the dream SOS.

Convince gaff that Shiel is coming. Convince Shiel that Gaff is coming.

Sell the story, paint the picture.

"With your addition next year Carlton will have the strongest starting midfield in the comp. Cripps, Shiel, Gaff and Kruezer. Supported by some of the best young talent in the country... Dow, Walsh, SPS, Settlefield, O'Brien and Fisher.

And guess who you get to kick it to. The best young forward in the comp, Curnow. With McKay and McGoven as your other options."

Open that war chest sos and sell the story.

Of course if these trades don't eventuate I may never be able to have sex again.

I really hope SOS can get it up for you.

I mean take care of your sex life.

Ummm I mean satisfy you.

I'm going to stop, this is harder than I thought... Ah crap!

I wouldn't give up this years 1st, it would be next years, which would still be 5 or better.

You have to remember, Marchbank was pick 6 and Pickett pick 4, we got both for a late 1st. Ahern was pick 7 and was trade for pick 69

Setterfield won't cost, as much as what people think

Setterfield will be cheaper than we think.

But Shiel will be much more expensive than is usually being mooted here. Even with his almost-FA status and GWS's bursting salary cap.

I don't want to put a dampener on anyone's Xmas wish list but don't get your hopes up on a Xmas card from the cowbots board as they are dwindling at a rapid rate .

Gaff would be a statement of intent for us to rise quickly, as would the acquisition of Shiel. I think with the money Nth are supposedly offering though, we won't be seeing him choose us. I mean unless he has a real desire to play for us and is willing to take less money than what is being offered else where.

Some draft experts had Setterfield as their #1 before the draft. If SPS had missed this year with an ACL would we ship him off for a second rounder? If we end up with Setterfield for anything less than a first rounder then SOS should be charged with theft.

M McGovern is worth a late 1st at best. Going to be 24 with less than 50 games next season. Doesn't say a heap. Certainly has talent but hasn't been able to break into the side really.

Only injury has kept him out of the side and limited his games. 23 games his debut season, 13 games the next due to injury, 12 games this year due to injury.

If you give Weitering a few years (ie, when he's actually at full size, roundabout 23-25) then he absolutely will be able to play on the monster KPF as pure lockdown as well as intercept and a leader of that back six. His issues right now can be drawn almost entirely from needing to play on whoever is getting out at the moment, whether that's Membrey - a pure leading forward with pace but not really a height/strength KPP - or Hawkins, or Franklin.

Give him that time, and make that his position/role, and watch him develop into that player. Our issue isn't playing him before he's ready, it's in surrounding him with negligable support relative to the rest of the competition, and ensuring via weakness of midfield that we suffer 45+ entries every single week.

I’d like to see Weiters get a personal sprint trainer, much like Cripps has done, over the break and work on his power from a standing start to full speed.

I don't see that lending him an advantage worth seeking.

People look at the current best players for analogies in their best youth. I don't see Rance as Jacob's ceiling, I see Scarlett/Lake/Wirrapunda (with more of the Lake) as applying to his prospective skillset better, and because of that I really don't think he needs straight line speed so much as he needs to spend time in the gym and with a sports psychologist to become somewhat more resilient.

Basically, he's going to read the ball better than most of the people he's going to need to beat on the lead, meaning that instead of playing the man he could just sit 10m in front of them and take their ball before they get there, provided the rest of the defensive setup is able to compensate for ball targeting the quick bloke alone behind him, and that's if you take our zone out of contention.

In 2016-17, our zone worked with Doc/Plow calling in the nearer defenders to cover for a leading forward who was 'out', with our defenders outside the genuine lockdown options - ASOS, Rowe - not going with the leading player and relying on someone to cut in from the side and mark the ball before the forward got there. Obviously, that's fallen apart this season, but that doesn't immediately entail that it doesn't work and won't work into the future.

We'll see how we go, but why try to build on something he'll never be good at and not improve on what he already does well? We've recruited Marchbank to be the yin to his yang, let him be the agile sprinter on the leading KPF while Jacob takes the gorillas.
