Honestly people need to realise that booing is part of sport. You get much harsher reception in other big leagues around the world. The only thing our Crowd does is boo and we have a few in the stands that swear. At least we don’t have fans regularly assualting fans, yelling racist/homophobic slurs or throwing shit on to the field.

On twitter the ones who complain about our crowds tend to be the hell left millennials that whinge at everything.

At a guess I reckon I've been to about 150 West Coast games in Perth. Most at Subi, a handful at the WACA and a couple at Optus Stadium. I've been to maybe a dozen Freo home games, a couple of GFs, and I've seen H&A games at Etihad, the MCG and Kardinia Park.

The atmosphere at Subi is no different to anywhere else. When we're getting pumped or coasting 10 goals up you can hear the knitting needles from the old ducks in the outer. When it's close the atmosphere is tense and when an opposition player throws an elbow or the umpires give an iffy free kick against us or miss an obvious one to us the crowd boo. The only difference is that our crowds are 95%+ supporting the home team and our stadium is usually full. Does anyone seriously think 40k WC fans at Subiaco is more intimidating than 90k Richmond fans at the MCG?

JB kept banging on about how loud the ground was on Saturday night and while the new stadium does have good acoustics there's a good degree of 'no shit, Sherlock'. First final ever at the ground, sell out crowd and there were 11 lead changes throughout the game. Were they expecting golf claps?

They are all irrelevant. Their garbage opinion has as much weight as mine on here.

On the field is where it matters and hopefully the boys can bring home cup no.4

Mark Duffield - very disappointing, I was booing because of the free kick and felt that Yeo had his legs taken out from him (could have broken his leg etc) - nothing to do with the injury... I assume Duffield was at the game? Have I got it wrong?

Thumbs down - "The West Coast booers: Simple message for Eagles fans. Don’t boo injured players when they are being assisted off the field. It’s a really bad look and it is really bad for your club’s reputation. Taylor Adams was genuinely dazed in a completely accidental collision with Elliot Yeo. Please understand how tough the players are and show some appreciation."

Duffield is a moron. I think a lot of Perth press has burned their bridges in terms of access to the Eagles in recent times and now they are pinning their hopes on somehow picking up a gig on the Melbourne based gravy train. Potting the WA clubs/fans to curry favour is the norm. Plus anything anti-WCE will always get some traction with the Purple tragics.

I think the 7west thing is trying to gain traction in a dying industry that is finding it harder to get a hold of todays masses. People are weird in that if pissed off by a newspaper article they will likely discuss that article with other people resulting in traction. Some people will even buy a copy of the newspaper just to get a dose on the outrage to prove their point. Not entirely sure it will be that detrimental to them and as their readership becomes less and less we will see more of this with the death throws of the paper.
It is an ego driven industry that is getting hurt by the lack of relevance they are getting after being the be all and end all of news for a given time.

People should be helping it die then.

Don’t buy their papers. Don’t access their website so they don’t get the clicks for ad revenue. Don’t watch their programming where possible so their advertisers get less ROI.

I’m lucky enough to have Fox so I’ve not had to deal with 7wests rubbish. Fox isn’t much better but it certainly isn’t worse.

What shits me the most I guess is there’s a Victorian bias, that’s fairly understandable as most of the commentary is Victorian.

What is unacceptable is our state media are the same as the Vic media. Thats not just against us either by the way, Freo are treated the same when they are going ok. Our Journos/personalities/commentators are too busy fornicating to their Vic counterparts to notice the damage they are doing.

tldr: the quicker people boycott anything 7west media the sooner they’ll pull their heads in.

I can guarantee they don’t get one cent out of me.

Was lucky enough to go to the game last night with ChampRevesby and thought I would rewatch the game on tv.

Well, eff me sideways...

That commentating was the most one sided load of diatribe I have ever heard and trust me, I have heard some shit in my time.

Chanel 7 should be ashamed of themselves. How ******* Darcey and Richo ever got commentating gigs is beyond me. They must have photos of a high up a 7...

It beggars belief that they are so called professionals. Instead of ex-footballers that have probably been hit in the head one too many times, they actually employ someone that has half an idea about unbiased commentary.
This has been going on since we entered the competition and for a while it started to get better. The last few years though have been atrocious.

I still get heated about the 2015 QF where Bruce,
BT, Darcy, even Cometti were openly supporting Hawthorn. So fervent was their barracking you'd have thought the hawks were having a blinder . . . except for the fact they were losing, to some unnamed side.

The problem is that this completely one sided narrative is sanctioned absolutely by Channel 7/Fox (and probably the AFL). If it wasn't we would be getting a lot more balance as we saw on Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoon.

There's a reason we have no voice in the national media despite being the one of the largest and most successful clubs in the league.

Walls on Sen asked beside’s Richmond who impressed you most over the weekend?
His answer
GWS
Melbourne
Collingwood
**** wit
In most good story/movie, there is always a Villain. Robert Walls certainly has played this role in the past 20 years. Without a villain figure like him, WCE success story will not be that beautifully written.:p:)

The thing is this thread will go on forever and a day until someone makes a stand and lobbies for home state commentary teams. It makes no sense flying these Vic centric pricks all over the country when each state could represent themselves. It should be part of the home ground advantage. How beautiful would that be, the Victorian reaction to it would justify the reason
This is exactly what needs to happen but the problem is how? How do we make a stand when the only thing corporations like 7/Fox/AFL will listen to are ratings and bums on seats. Stop watching or attending games? While the masses continue ignore/approve of the anti-West Coast bias nothing will change.

And let's be clear, there is a massive anti-West Coast bias. No other club cops as much heat as we do; not Fremantle, not Port, not Adelaide (you could argue this but you'd be wrong), and especially not the beloved Victorian clubs nor the pet projects in Sydney and QLD.

While a part of me is proud we illicit such fear and hate, another part demands the respect and acknowledgement our great club deserves. But the only way it will happen is for the insular Victorian culture of the AFL to change, and effecting this will be near on impossible.

Any ideas?

Mark Duffield: continuing to suck the snotty end of his master's schlong while journalistic integrity sits horrified (and a little nauseous) in a forgotten corner.

On 3AW this morning. We won 2 games at the MCG including against Collingwood a few months ago.

Please keep these type of comments coming Vic media. I love it, it will rile the players up. i hope no one gives us a chance if we do make it, places all the pressure and expectation on richmond.

Everyone will be barracking for the whorks/Dees next week too.

Our final the best of the finals so far as usual but gave all the credit to Collingwood. I agree we should get our own commentary when WA teams play over here so sick of those Vics it’s beyond a joke.

That's the problem though isn't it.

If it's reported on enough (WC fans are terrible), even if it's not true, will eventually become the truth to the casual fan (which is all I can say Duffield is :D ).

Hence why I hate bias in the media.
^^ This exactly. Shit like this happens at every football match, yet it is only our games where it is highlighted. Let's not forget the travesty of the horrible booing West Coast crowd of Adam Goodes, every club in the nation had a go yet we cop the tag.

It's not only disrespectful to the football club, but us as supporters as well. They create this narrative that we are terrible football fans that knows **** all about the game and it is never questioned because of the anti-West Coast echo chamber that constitutes our national (and local) media.

Robert Walls and Tony Jones.

They aren't educated, respected journalists. They are morons with a mic.

Notice Rohan Connolly had just said west coast have changed the way they play over east. That's actual journalism; based on facts not opinion. Not just trying to grab headlines to stay relevant.

Honestly, it is so deeply ingrained right through to the relentless brain washing comments of Melbourne being the home of footy that I think we (inter state clubs) need to shoot for the stars and settle for the moon. Get Twiggy Forrest involved, he might not be an Aussie rules guy but he’s patriotic we need a voice with clout. The bias has far more reaching implications than we realise, it promotes the best talent in the country to want to play for these Vic teams.
