Goldsack admittedly had a pretty good game and defied my expectations. But his man still had 12 disposals, 6 marks (3 contested) and 6 shots at goal

Barrass' man on the other hand had 5 disposals, 2 marks and no score.

not to mention barrass' had 8 disposals and 3 marks, whereas goldsack had 5 and zero

One is heralded as a 'superb', 'brave' performance, one gets a 4/10 on afl.com.

but hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good story, right?

Cox is fairly crap though. Or at least much worse at footy than Kennedy.

Still agree with the vibe of your post though, Barrass was quality and he got the job done with aplomb.

Make no mistake, the AFL is a business now. Us old dinosaurs can remember when it was solely about sport. But not now. It is now a huge business based on sport.
And of course businesses always abide by the law don't they?
Always.....i think we are just scratching the surface is australia atm

Nope. Wasn't me

Did make the mistake when I edited the thread title originally and saw it straight away but decided to leave it as it seemed appropriate in light of the thread topic

One of the other humourless/spelling nazi mods must have corrected it

I think people saying the commentators didn’t talk about Shep’s injury is incorrect. They regularly went on about it saying how it was a massive positive for Collingwood and Jordan De Goey was going to be the best player on the ground from then on.

Which is much much worse. They almost went BT style and cheered his injury.

coincidentally the mihocek mark and hit on riloi was only replayed once quickly and moved on, if it were the eagles Richo would have been dissecting it for 20 minutes.

Most annoying part for me was the lack of calls for incorrect disposal/contact below the knees. Varcoe took out jettas legs on the wing then only got called when he literally pulled jetta down by the foot. Adams took out Yeo's legs - free to Adams, saw Mcgovern slid under multiple times. The amount of good tackles I saw where collingwood literally dropped the ball or just flung it out unpenalised was outrageous, there's a rule there either call it always or never.... The fact they will call it when they choose makes me think there's been an instruction on this from AFL HQ - yep tinfoil hat.
The incorrect disposal is the one that really s***s me. Off the top of my head, Venables was pinned twice for HTB when he was grabbed and the ball dropped out. Yet the same thing happened countless times to Collingwood players-called play on. Either call the action HTB or don't!!

Edit: So I don't appear totally one-eyed, there was at least one instance where a Collingwood player should have won a HTB free against us that wasn't called. There were probably more but as an Eagles fan I don't remember them. :p
But the umpires really need to sort this one out. It's frustrating as feck.

Was lucky enough to go to the game last night with ChampRevesby and thought I would rewatch the game on tv.

Well, eff me sideways...

That commentating was the most one sided load of diatribe I have ever heard and trust me, I have heard some shit in my time.

Chanel 7 should be ashamed of themselves. How ****ing Darcey and Richo ever got commentating gigs is beyond me. They must have photos of a high up a 7...

It beggars belief that they are so called professionals. Instead of ex-footballers that have probably been hit in the head one too many times, they actually employ someone that has half an idea about unbiased commentary.

The thing is this thread will go on forever and a day until someone makes a stand and lobbies for home state commentary teams. It makes no sense flying these Vic centric pricks all over the country when each state could represent themselves. It should be part of the home ground advantage. How beautiful would that be, the Victorian reaction to it would justify the reason

The thing that shat me was Richo banging on about Vardy’s first goal after he put his hands in the back of Grundy in the ruck contest. I didn’t think you could do that in a ruck contest either, but, Vardy got away with it and Richo goes on about it for ages, then 2 minutes later Grundy does it to our ruck and gets away with it-silence from Richo. They’re just muppets.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

The Eagles’ win - which will see them play the winner of Hawthorn v Melbourne - was soured by an injury to the well-liked Brad Sheppard, who succumbed to a nasty hamstring injury. Meanwhile, youngster Tom Cole found the going tough.

Nah, the only time it will stop is when people stop taking any notice of the media. Use them to watch the games, or events people want. God knows why anyone puts any credence in what the media says or looks for positive affirmation of what they think from the media?

Deafening silence regarding Mihocek's mark over the goal line and subsequent goal. Absolutely no comment on it and it took ages for them to show a replay which was not examined carefully from different angles or spoken about. This was just as much a mistake as Vardy's goal or even bigger because less interpretation is involved than that required in a ruck contest. The bias was appalling, something needs to be done. The ABC for example knows local input is needed.

That superfooty podcast is the biggest joke, the one guy said oh West Coast they only won because they get a million free kicks what a prick.
And then said to Mick Warner why you be afraid of West Coast you will beat them by a 60 at the MCG.

Cant wait to wipe the smug of their faces. They do realise that we played with 1 player down for the entire game?

Mick Warner describing the game as the Pies-Collingwood clash summed the superfooty pod up

Mark Duffield - very disappointing, I was booing because of the free kick and felt that Yeo had his legs taken out from him (could have broken his leg etc) - nothing to do with the injury... I assume Duffield was at the game? Have I got it wrong?

Thumbs down - "The West Coast booers: Simple message for Eagles fans. Don’t boo injured players when they are being assisted off the field. It’s a really bad look and it is really bad for your club’s reputation. Taylor Adams was genuinely dazed in a completely accidental collision with Elliot Yeo. Please understand how tough the players are and show some appreciation."

Fair dinkum, how dense could a senior journo be? They weren’t booing Adams. They were booing the incident and the decision to call high rather than contact below the knees. Those ones are always 50/50 anyway. Obviously Duffield hasn’t been briefed by management that the anti-Eagles agenda pushing ended in August...
