Free Agency Reece Conca [joins Fremantle as an Unrestricted Free Agent]

Good move to help speed up the development of Freo's kids and make their midfield work better. Fairly cheap and pretty much low risk. Reece's recent injuries have been contact (Buddy ain't a small thing to land on your leg).

Good luck to Reece and hope he has a great time at Freo.

So Richmond won't get any compensation because they will sign Tom Lynch?

If Gold Coast match and RIchmond have to trade for Lynch does this mean they will get a compo pic for Conca? (likely end of second round)

This whole compo thing is bizarre.
The compensation punishes every team in the comp for a free agent signing. It's an absurd system.

So you would have zero compensation for Free Agency moves?
I would, late 3rd round at best.

If a team gets 7 years out of a players then that should be considered good service. Teams don't get compo when players retire early.

That is one ugly signing. I just don’t see how in any way this can benefit Freo either now or in the long run.
Mature body, tackles well and with Neale leaving we have barely any mids in this age profile. I don't have a problem with it, if your mob can get some use out of Mayne, I don't see how we couldn't find some sort of role for Conca.

Where but? Duman.wilson.cerra banfield logue half backs an then hill bros on the wing.

Goddard would of even done for a year if you needed that old head an would play all 22 games

Swap the half back / mid role with Blakley

The compensation is the salary cap space the team has. They should be able to sign a similar player on similar coin

Works well in theory but do you see the basket case that is Gold Coast being able to entice a similar player to replace Lynch?

Why should West Coast get punished by being pushed down the draft order because Freo signed a Richmond player? It makes no sense whatsoever.

Because losing a player for nothing hurts that club. In other scenarios, a player wanting to leave results in a trade of picks or players to compensate that club. How would you feel if Luke Shuey was offered $$$$$ by North and they pick him up and you get nothing?

Seems like a good bloke, good club man etc but cannot play footy.

Maybe if he gets a full preseason and a run at it with no injuries he will go alright, but seriously has to improve his disposal and decision making.

Completely agree, free agency bastardises what would otherwise be a good system.
The salary cap and the draft should be all you need.

Good clubman but very average footballer and injury history suggests you won't get a full year out of him ever. 3 years was a year too long, personally wouldn't have taken him at all. To his credit he does crack in and tackle though when he's on the park, he is just a limited footballer with ball in hand.
