It was to round 13 2016 when Tippett was on fire as a ruck resting forward & was in AA form as the best at this role in the competition.
He gave us a good block of games in 2016 to indicate he could play that role & play it at an elite level but then tore the hamstring up high on the leg, had surgery & came back when most players wouldn't have with that injury. It didn't finish positively for him & us but if we could have had that early 2016 form from Tippo going into the GF it may have been a different result.
And Scott Jeffrey was run over.

I'd have a crack with Bennell (not knowing much from the inside though). Long base program with a view to him playing football from about Round 6. Series of personal and professional KPIs to be ticked off over that period. Including drug/alcohol testing or whatever it is causing his issues. See how much he wants it. Nothing to lose with a 1 year contract.
Crack might be appropriate for this idiot.

How was he on fire when he came back in 2017? he was not selected , did he play in the finals in 2017? no he played NEAFL, the coaches didnt select him despite being on ifre

he came back for round 20- to round 23 and played 4 games when he was in fire in the back end including dominating against adelaide as you say

he averaged in those 4 dominant games
10.75 disposals
3.25 marks
4 tackles
12.5 hitouts
1 goal

thats pretty average
and then he was dropped

so think you may have forgotten

He was playing as our main ruck-man, so of course his disposals would be low... Sinclair was playing mostly forward and Tippett was left in the ruck.

He came back and literally did his job, he had injuries all year. He wasn't picked coz we had too many talls and Horse felt Naismith would be a better option given how good he was all year.

Those stats mean nothing, if you go back and watch the highlights of each game, you will see how good he was. Stats don't always tell the story.

He couldnt get in for a few weeks at the end of the season.

He really is a big loss. He is better than Sinclair in everything except heart. He was a better ruck, better mark, better kick

Agreed, so strangely the answer to who is more respected in the playing group or who was more important to the team when they were playing....now that is not so easily answered.

This hate on tippet really sh*ts me.

Yes, at the start of the 2017 season he struggled, but that was due to injury. The moment he came back into the side later in the year he was on fire! He dominated against Adelaide (In Adelaide; Who we ended up beating and all knew how great they were in 2017) and lots of people thought he should've been kept in the side when Naismith came back after injury.

He performed well in every game he played at the back end of the year, such a shame how quick some people are to forget.

I don't recall his 2016 GF performance as being worthy of any highlights reel? Yet he was one of our highest paid players. We paid for a forward and he became a better than adequate ruckman. But in the end, he couldn't dominate the doggies rucks who have no great claims to Tippett's salary, but wear Premiership medallions.

Agreed. Ability to get the pill and then not turn it over.

Rather someone getting it 20 times and kicking it effectively rather than getting it 35 times and butchering it

Hahahahaa what?

Chief, we're talking about 2017!

In the 2016 granny, half our team didn't show up and weren't 'worthy of any highlights reel'... we also got f**cked over in the free-kick count 20-8.

Also kicked 44 goals in 2015.

2014 also strong, kicked 34 goals playing in a forward line with Goodes and Bud. The forward line of those 3 was bloody good to watch!

Stop hosing down healthy debate/chat.

Trade periods almost over and we're discussing our ruck and previous players; It's all relevant to this discussion and the moves we need to make to get better.
Healthy debate for a thread relevant to the subject and it's not about 16 ! go to the general thread.

Nuh, talking about the lack of love for Tippett. The VFL could not have arranged a better conspiracy - ensuring our chances for flag success would be stymied by his trade to us. No wonder our guys have gone to the draft instead of trading We turned an A grader into a D grader. That one trade would burn you for life.
