So from Hart's comments and who we are playing, this is our planned Round 1 team barring injury.

B Laird - Talia - Doedee
HB Smith - Hartigan/Keath - Milera
C Seedsman - Gibbs - Atkins
HF Douglas - Walker - Lynch
F Knight - Jenkins - Betts
R Jacobs - Sloane - M. Crouch

I B. Crouch - Kelly - Murphy - Jones

E O'Brien - Ellis-Yolmen - Fogarty - Keath/Hartigan

It's not a bad team overall but the inclusion of Douglas and Jacobs are concerns

Both were always going to be given their spots to lose.

Very disappointing they've already decided Jacobs and Fogarty won't be in the team.

I'm guessing the battle for the 22nd spot will be Hartigan v Keath

Fogarty not playing rd 1 is not at all surprising. I'm not surprised Douglas will play ahead of CEY either. I'm pretty disappointed ROB won't get another chance to stake his claim though.

Well this selection means it looks like Hartigan beat out Keath this offseason... Soooo pretty much disregard any of my round 1 predictions! That was suppose to be the easiest player to drop of the lot.

If we can’t drop a guy coming off 2 knee surgeries, a limited preseason and an exceptionally poor JLT1 outing over Keath who has looked good every time he's played this offseason, then it looks like the conservative selection committee have kicked off 2019 with a bang!
Maybe, maybe not. As Don said JLT 2 is a dress rehearsal for round 1 but I wouldn't be surprised if there are still a few changes that happen depending on what happens in both games.

He has one job. Run Chayce run

It's a nice luxury to have players who could easily get a game not get a game. That's the ideal scenario. Hopefully it stays that way - #1 outcome from tonight is no injuries, the rest is largely irrelevant.

I would like us to lead at HT or be competitive. I get the feeling after HT, the heat of last week may be a variable.

Keath wasn't that good last week either, although I too think he's a better player marginally

I think he’s come from a long way back fitness and strength wise. Being a bit injury prone hasn’t helped but getting through a full preseason has him right in the frame. Reckon Hartigan will get first crack, but they’d be neck and neck I reckon.

While we may differ over Dougie and we will know more in a bit over two hours time, I think the likely team you listed is a fair deduction of where things stand at the moment.

This.
I'm an unashamed Harto fan, but he does frustrate me when he zones off too far.
I don't want to sound like one of those angry old blokes that always yell out 'man up' when they are clearly in a zone, but when the opposition get a fast break he seems like he's always too far away to defend. He needs to stop backing in his speed so much and play just a bit closer.

I’d be quite confident that he’s where he’s meant to be. The defensive coaches are concentrating on their positioning the entire time. They’d be pretty incompetent if Hartigan is constantly in the wrong spot.

Bereton already proving how little he knows as he was comparing Seedsman and Smith and implied that Seedsman doesn't get as much run and carry. Psst we play both and Seed was leading the metres gained for a while last year in the AFL. I think he's okay at the run and carry and kicking long.

Because of his foot complaints is still building up his fitness base for the season proper.

I get the feeling that once he is spot on with the right match fitness he will be in the AFL team where Pyke wants him to be.
