The first ever memory of Wingard was in Round 1, 2012 against St Kilda when he gathered the ball in the saints defensive 50 ran and ran through the middle of the ground all the way into our forward line, but then absolutely shanked the kick.

I remember there were a few times that his delivery into forward 50 was already operating several planes higher than the quadrangle of doom were capable of and hence were completely ineffectual entries.

I was sitting right next to where that happened and at the time I couldn’t see it leave his arms.

Even in the slow motion footage you never see it come out

Love to see a longer take, because at the ground I swear the north player literally took it out of Rozees hands while he was on the ground and I was baffled why a 50 wasn’t paid when I realised they hadn’t paid the mark.

Maybe from the other angle you can see it come out but the nearest ump who didn’t call it a mark had a view from down the line where it was kicked from so if it came out there was no way he could have seen it.

Absolutely baffling

I was sitting in the Quinn stand and I thought he dropped it - slid straight down his chest. If you were on the other side of the ground your view was probably blocked by Rozee having his back to you.

Speaking of Wingard taking the game on and getting caught holding the ball a lot in 2012, that brings back memories of my old man screaming “You’re not good enough!” every single time

With first year sensations more common these days, people are starting to expect too much from draftees too soon. Rozee clearly has what it takes. He's 18 ffs.
