Cinematography looks gorgeous. I was indifferent but now I’m in.

So it’s not The Killing Joke?

Well, that is shit.
Holy crap.
Thoughts?
Shazam rated M in Australia apparently. Bizarre take.
I think the monsters are tonally at odds with movie. It’s been marketed as a family movie but rated M and deservedly so. I took my six-year-old, having only been made aware the day before that it was M; he mostly loved it but got overwhelmed at one point, got pretty scared.
Cinematography on point as you said earlier. Loved the 1981 setting, looks very noir and a classic Miller style Gotham.
Seeing Arkham State Hospital gave me chills. Thomas Wayne on the television had me pinching myself; is this really real? Is this happening?
Joaquin Phoenix in those shirtless scenes from the back looking quite gaunt, then jumping to a close of up his face smiling was glorious.
The maniacal laughter on the train got me. In fact it’s got me everytime that I’ve watched it. This is just the type of film I’ve been pining for.
It had me from he moment Phoenix was cast, but now I’m all in. Outstanding.
Yeah love the way Arkham looked. Very grounded but haunting in they way old hospitals are, especially ones for mental patintents.
The only thing that took me out of it was the actor playing Thomas Wayne was in Dark Knight Rises and his distinctive voice stood out coz it was used in that trailer also. But no big deal for the movie.

Watched the trailer a few more times and noticed a comment that hit the mark.
We've seen previous Joker's made purely from chemical waste. But this trailer really shows us that society played a large part in creating the Joker in this rendition of the story.
Bit eerily considering what's happened recently in the world and certainly something worth thinking about.
