Crowd can boo whoever they please. Its hard to pin down why a bunch of people are booing in the first place. I always cursed Brent Harvey and Adam Goodes because they were dirty little snipers. I boo Cotchin. If any are involved in any issue i'd boo them extra. I suspect many boo Ablett (due to his greatness and perhaps his history), but just boo harder when he is in the headlines. I think booing should be reserved to what the player does in the AFL realm. Booing for other reasons is a bit weak imo.

For example, Beams was booed last Thursday. You can see why and I'm fine with it. Booing Gaz because he liked a picture that had nothing to do with AFL? Yeah, nah. (I'm not saying that is why he was booed either).

It's a personal preference and if there isn't the desire amongst the crowd to boo, then it's unlikely to catch on. Though the surefire way to make it widespread is to lecture people on it. Without the fuss keeping it in the news, people will get bored eventually and it'll die off fairly quickly.

Just as some of us can laugh at the sensitivity of the Hawthorn supporters who felt compelled to boo because they were upset about a social media 'like'. Ablett expressed his opinion to like a post, the sensitive Hawk supporters expressed their opinion by booing because their feelings were hurt, and now the rest can express their opinion by laughing at the sensitivity over a social media 'like'. It will all be OK I feel, hang in there.
