That Liam Baker goes alright. Amazing how Richmond have a plethora of goalkicking pressure small forwards and we've got literally none

The coach doesn't rate the position.

It shows.

Basically every other decent club does.

We have small forwards, not top shelf admittedly but they don't pressure, kick straight or mark under pressure. I don't see any of these Richmond small forwards as Eddie Betts or Stephen Milne but they put in and play under what is called a game plan.

Has nothing to do with him currently being a mega potato.

Should have retired. Too slow and too crap to play at AFL level now.

Will only play well against shit sides like us who leave him out the back by himself.
Given our current state I am a bit Glass Houses on players who have such records. No doubt he's lost a yard or two and maybe the desire has waned also but as I said, not sure we can cast down other clubs right now.

Lewis is a shit bloke!

I’m loving watching him spud it up.

I really can’t believe we overlooked Sydney Stack. There was question marks around his commitment because of his up bringing but we can’t afford to be over looking talent like that.
Benefit of being at a decent club.

If we picked him up, he'd be playing 65% TOG after being named on the extended bench for our reserves.

He’d be what Thomas is now

"Stack was regarded as one of the most talented of WA's draft hopefuls but was overlooked in last week's NAB AFL Draft and Rookie Draft".

I'd suggest;

a) winning isn't that important to us
b) we're run by a bunch of w***ers.
c) both

So was dayle garlett and we all know how well that turned out. Dont get me wrong as iam not saying stack is in any way the same type of bloke as garlett but only pointing out that a lot of consideration goes into drafting.

Reports are stack is determined and driven. He is quoted as actually making himself ill in his efforts to get picked up and judging from that bump on viney could have a bit if byron picket about him.

Anyway we took a chance with gordon narrier and whilst it was a bust selection you Cannot say that we are being negligent in looking at low percentage selections.

I'd rather have taken Stack in the Nat Draft than sign Tyson for three seasons. Tyson while ticking every box around good blokes with great attitudes is just another dime a doz plodder with suspect skills and we already had that market cornered.

Our recruiting is abysmal and I'm not 100% sure we understand how to compete while keeping an eye on the future.

Well, it wasn't just us, it was all 18 clubs, including Richmond, that thought he wasn't worth drafting.

But Richmond did something really smart - not just take him to Melbourne, but he stayed at Damian Hardwick's house. Perfect way to see the kid close up and teach him what it takes to be an AFL footballer.

But it must also be said that plenty of kids look good after a few games and are never seen again. I hope he goes well, but it's still only four games.

If we’d recruited Stack and he stayed at Bard’s house he’d have learnt all about what it takes to paint de-fence.

Watching last night's game was scary. Richmond had 22 players on the same page, regardless of talent, applying unrelenting pressure for the entire 120 minutes. Attack on the ball, the player, perceived pressure, tap-ons. It never stopped. On top of that they hit targets. And I still maintain that despite having clearly more A-listers than we do that they have a huge number of average players. There are many differences between our list and their list but the main one, in my book, is that they all believe in a game plan, each other and the coach.

We can only dream of having a list that plays with such ferocity and collective vision.

The comment “perpetual motion” was used by one of the commentators and it summed them up in both offence and defence. In offence all players are moving with arms out to show they’re available. In defence they’re causing chaos by all moving at speed creating pressure. We instead try to dictate the pace of the game by slowing it down with shit skills and poor positioning.
