No. No it wasn't. I'm going to continue calling out people posting this incorrect fact until I stop seeing it.

McDonald-Tipungwuti was taken with the 22nd pick of the 2015 rookie draft. He was available to be drafted by any and every team, including ours. The WADA sanctions hadn't even been announced at the time, they weren't announced until a month later. His entry into the AFL happened to coincide with the supplements scandal, but the two are entirely unrelated.

Twice all players have stopped because a holding the ball was so obvious to everyone but the umpires. Proof that the afl are completely on a different page to the rest of the football world on what should be holding the ball.
