The problem is that SOS has consolidated his power and no one has the cahoonas to sack him. I would sack him and ask for $400,000 back, if he was a true clubman ,he would do it.

Having said that you got no idea how it's going to turn out just like the rest of us. Stocker could turn out better than any from this years draft or he'll be a bust, so your opinion is as credible as any on here.
I didn't evaluate Stocker as a player, I'm evaluating the process. As I've said before, if you make dumb trades that happen to work out, it's not a good trade, you just got lucky.

That said Stocker doesn't have a unique skillset and there will be plenty of midfielders drafted now and into the future. It just seems strange to give up a number one pick when history tells us that that pick is more valuable than pick 11 and Stocker.

Maybe SOS is ****ing the list up so his spud of a son keeps his spot?

Ingenious when you think about it

Happy to have bloke that bleeds blue on the list and his performace today easily justifies his spot.

Anyway I thought you blokes were supposed to be a top 4 team this year - must sting seeing our rabble beat an actual top 4 contender.

if i've made a mistake with Brisbane's best 22 below i apologies, but go through the below list and explain how there's 13 ladder positions worth of difference between the 2 sides. as a collective brisbane are miles in front obviously, but pound for pound i think the below groups are relatively even. certainly not enough difference for one to be on the verge of pushing for top 4 and one to be the biggest basket case since university.

neale - cripps
hodge - simpson
witherden - docherty
hipwood - charlie curnow
zorko - murphy
mcluggage - walsh
martin - kruezer
robinson - ed curnow
andrews - jones
mcstay - weitering
rich - thomas
berry - fisher
rayner - dow
a smith - mckay
mccarthy - fasolo
matthieson - m kennedy
christensen - david cuningham
adams - marchbank
lyons - stocker
walker - mcgovern
cameron - sam petrevski seton

keep in mind this thread is purely about the list, not the coaches ability to get the best out of it.
I know it's one game, but none the the less i feel like my comment is vindicated

A decision was made when SOS came in to hit the draft hard and bring elite talent in. He has done that.
People calling for him to be sacked are clueless.

Non-Carlton posters probably don't even realise that his clever trading is the only reason we have McKay, Charlie Curnow and Cuningham on our list and they are key parts of our future.

Also despite not having major impacts just yet, i think he did well convincing the likes of Matt Kennedy, Will Setterfield and Mitch McGovern to join a bottom club and got them all for decent prices.

I am not sure if recycling GWS players was totally his idea so not going to blame him 100% for it but on reflection it was a bad idea.

You have a list of talented young players, surrounded by spuds who are used to losing. Bringing in talented young players who have already failed once at AFL level in en masse into that environment does not create a winning culture. I get that in isolation pick X for former pick 15 instead of journeyman spud looks a no brainer but in combination you wind up with a list that is habituated to failure.

You're 2-10 and you think SOS has done a good job at recruiting GWS rejects (Kennedy, Setterfield and more). He should have used those traded picks to get some mature players. The only reason Carlton won that game was because of Cripps and SOS didn't even recruit him.

SOS has done a terrible job thus far.

Calling Cuningham a key part of your future and one of his best moves just about puts it in perspective though don't you think? Not saying he couldn't be but he's 22 and had 3 games with more than 20 touches this year, never been especially impressed by him as an elite talent. Mind I would replace him with SPS, dunnoh why Carlton fans are going down at that kid he's gonna be really good in a few years.

Carlton has enough mature players (as long as they stay healthy)

cripps was obviously immense but the biggest reason they won todays game was ed curnow. neale was BOG in first half when brisbane were winning and curnow tagged him completely out of the game in the second. bolton had been complaining about how many kids we have in the midfield and he's been playing curnow as a forward all year for some reason. today ed back in the midfield and has his best game of the year by far and we do a serious number on the lions midfield.

Stocker doesn’t play, Carlton have their best game of the year.

What a blinder by young Walsh. It's amazing the impact the no.1 pick can have when you nail it. He seems to be having a great deal more impact than poor Stocker (feel sorry for the lad, taken at 19 but will be expected to perform like the no.1).

I finally got this gif working. It's the Adelaide recruiters when they heard SOS was on the phone and wanting to deal:

But the Carlton supporters keep saying they don’t need another 18 year old.

If the 18 year old is another Walsh then you’d take that every single day of every week

I’ve said before he’s done well maximizing high picks for us and we have a good hit rate with top 30 picks over his time.

Even LOB looked pretty good today, nice goal and a killer pass in the last.

Still stand by the fact most of his trading and recruiting of later picks has been awful.

In terms of the gws guys marchbank, Plowman and Setterfield are the only ones worth anything really. Kennedy looks a bust unless he improves dramatically, otherwise he will be cut end of 2020.

Bolton is a stubborn idiot who was tying one hand behind his back in not playing guys in their best roles.

Curnow up forward all year is seriously dumb, he’s one of the best run with taggers in the afl but refused to play him in that role.

Today bolts never would of made the move of him onto Neale, he never made in game moves like that. Was like the initial pre game plan was etched in stone.

A 3 kick game? **** the bar is at an all time low over at Carlton.

Not sure how a team that has won4 games out of 40 odd can make anything sting tbh.

But look in all seriousness, enjoy the win......not often you can say that to a Carlton supporter

This post made me lol. I do admire Carlton fans. Us Dees fans tend to wallow in our self pity because we've been shit for so long, while Carlton fans always manage to be able to scratch their heads and wonder why aren't we playing finals with this list? Cripps, Walsh and McKay would be the only 3 Carlton listed players that would slide into the Dees team atm. And we are 16th on the ladder!

A little bit unfair comparing our list to a powerhouse side like Melbourne who has one more win and pretty much the exact same percentage.

Setterfield cost pick 20 and the best state league small forward.
McGovern cost pick 13 (two 2nd round picks) and a state league player..

Sosover looked the best player in the Colts ressies in hickmott for he's son who played 3 tac games and a ranger who was his best mate.

You are aware what sos payed to get those trades yeh ? Dogs landed a premiership player.. tigers gifted pick 19 same with the cats but sos turned around the next year and gave them tuohy for nothing lol
