So let me get this straight, our club is prepared to celebrate indigenous culture and wear an indigenous guernsey 3 times a year. Yet it is not willing to fight to wear it's own traditional jumper more than once a season and won't hesitate to shit on it's own culture and traditions at the same time.
Let that sink in!

Just got home from work, brought out my PBs and I’m ****ing nervous about the rest of the game but still #bringbackthebars

Enjoyed a quick prison bar pint at the London Tavern before heading down to the oval. Can't wait to see the photos in front of the scoreboard. Timmy rocking the PBs during his half time spot.

I didn't notice enough black and white.
An old friend that attends Maggies games with me says to me "you're at the wrong game". That shows that he sees the jumper to be out of place at Power games. Another old friend says to me "we will never be allowed to wear it full time. It's a waste of time trying". Both situations show that they are conditioned to be unfamiliar with the jumper at afl level.
The younger guys behind me in discussions were just not interested in the jumper issue. Don't connect to it enough to fight it.
We had to fight this 10 years ago. Tonight I realised that our biggest fight is with our own.

This is part of why I see it as a positive if it becomes a Showdown guernsey.
While I know others are bothered that it'd be specific to Showdowns and they'd rather see it used against more varied opposition, wearing it regularly, even if it's only once or twice a year, will reignite the passion for it in a supporter base who doesn't think it's going to happen.
Remember the 2014 Elimination Final? People would have run through brick walls for that guernsey, and the players certainly did. Our problem is that we didn't keep the momentum up. Wearing it every year starts to wear down opposition to it, both within the club and outside.

It felt more port adelaide tonight. Seeing quite a bit more black and white around, nods of approval from fellow supporters in their old Maggies, or newer power prison bar guernseys. Vintage Maggies beanies, scarfes, old lace ups.
How we have let this slip the last two decades is pretty poor.
We just have to keep pushing this on the club, every game more and more fans decked out in the prison bars, in anything black and white. The bigger this grows, the more the club, and hopefully afl, will have to listen.
