What I will say is that I know that whatever happens and whomever joins us SOS will pull a rabbit out of the hat.
Yeah he just will.
Then it will get questioned if new player isn't getting 30 touches from day one.
And then when eventually new player(s) hits their straps it will show SOS was right again.

I think Martin is overrated in some quarters, although he will come cheap/er given he is uncontacted

Im probably in the minority, but I think getting the best talent in across the park trumps selecting for need.

Martin has talent in spades, he’s just never been given the best set up to maximise it.

Is that a GC issue or a Jack Martin issue... I guess we’ll soon find out.

No one wanted Cas this time last year. We put him on a 1 year. If a club like GC is now willing to give him 3 years on decent money it's our chance to capitalise, and it's his chance too. Would not begrudge him at all.

I'd be happy for Levi to leave for a 2 or 3 year contract, elsewhere.
Think it would be the best thing for him and who would deny him?

If the CFC wanted to tie him up longer term, we could have done so, but we didn't back oursleves.
Nothing against the CFC and certainly not against Casboult should he finish his career elsewhere. Good on him, I'd say.

I will tell you what the issue is.
Half the posters here think this Martin fellow is better than Cripps. The other half think he's worse than Jordan Russell.
So its likely that somewhere in the middle is an ok player and not worth much to us.
This team is going places and we don't need passengers.

To compare an unproven player to proven players like Kreuzer, Curnow and Doc yeah it does.

I'm not suggesting we trade him, I'd rather keep him unless it brings us someone like Papley. But I just think people are conflating his potential with his actual output and value to the team when he does play. The only thing I'm trying to say is that he's not a truly valuable player that we need in the team. He's not proven that ability yet, and he in no way should be compared the those guys above.

Same argument that some used to justify offering Kennedy instead of Fevola. Not buying it.

He has. Been smashed from pillar to post as our one key forward since Fev left, cops plenty from fans and the club won’t back him in with a decent contract so he accepted a one year deal.

If he leaves at the end of the year, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Perhaps you misunderstood, I was agreeing with you.

Casboult leaving makes sense and if he's playing in this form whilst knowing he's going to depart then he has my utmost respect. Hopefully providing the club as much compensation as possible.

We cannot resent Levi for looking after his best interest considering a lot of us didn't consider that for what we thought us ours.

As for Jack Martin? Could be a by product for GC's problems but hard to say.

There is no way the club lets Casboult go. And no way Casboult would want to go.
I call it crap and it gets me very, irritated.

We have put Levi up for trade in the past.

And as for loyalty - clubs get rid of players when they’ve reached their used by date. Nothing wrong with players moving clubs for better opportunity / money (Judd, McGovern etc).

Football is a business and a full-time job. Levi has a family to provide for. Moving to another club is no different to moving to another employer.

Good luck to Levi if he finds better opportunity elsewhere.
