Note. If someone is willing to do the hard yards, I clearly recall a credible Carlton poster last year stating that we were strongly chasing rabbit.

Talk this year reminds me of Tom Lynch last year. Was always going to Richmond, but Hawks were often sprouting they were in the window (which they were not).

On Adelaide radio this morning Mark Ricciuto was talking about Teague getting the gig and said that the blues will improve a lot next year and then he said the below about Coniglio.

“The blues will add Stephen Coniglio to there midfield, I have this on very very very strong mail”

Roo doesn’t normally mention things without good mail.

Adelaide again gets in the poo for going public with trade matters waaaay too early...

From the sounds of it, a lot of deals are done months/year before it happens.

They do......sort of.
You can have an agreement between all parties, but things can happen.

North had Martin. The agreement was in place.
Tigers go to New Zealand and the situation changes.

Happy to add Coniglio and Ellis as FAs. Of course im keen to send our adelaide pick somewhere for a Papley/Martin type but would be still very happy to take it to the draft if we got the FAs.

Next year is looking good. But its 2021 when it looks great IMO. Lets grab grundy as a FA then

Coniglio + Ellis as free agents.
Martin via future pick trade or downgrade of Adelaide's first.
Still like Cutler for a late pick....
Ruckman for peanuts.
Weightman in the draft.

Gun mid.
Versatile small utility.
2x mature mid/defenders.
Depth ruck.
Young small forward.

Round out with best available in the draft, and we've covered pretty much all areas of immediate/imminent need.

Feel like everything is coming together.

But, I clearly remember someone stating it around trade period last year.
I can't recall who said it, but I recall it being a poster with credibility.
They never said Coniglio, they just said rabbit and that we were chasing, and we were a decent chance.

This likely has been a multi-year chase.

I bet there is a good chance that Crippa has already spoken with Cogs.

Our first ever prima FA acquisition.

Coniglio is a heart and soul player, his leaving GWS will really set that club back, the AFL CEO knows it, but he is powerless here.

Nope, note the use of carrot, something that rabbits love to it.

Given a choice between Shiel or Cogs, our team needs a Cogs type. He is an elite finisher that actually hits the scoreboard.

Grundy is only a FA next year if he signs for one year only and I cannot see that happening under any rational circumstance. If we're going to get him it needs to be now.

I don't think we have the collateral to deal with Collingwood, even if we were prepared to offer this and next years firsts I doubt that they'd take a pick around 11 this year and next years (with Grundy and Coniglio) could very well be in the last 4.

If we're serious about him then I reckon we all need to steel ourselves to losing one of our most highly rated players.

Probably not even in our interest to push Collingwood beyond the 3 years reported if we have any hopes to get him in future.

I still can’t get on the Ellis bandwagon. I do think though that’s probably because i’m unrealistically confident about our kids. In Ellis third season he averaged 26 touches so I’m not so sure why I expect all of our kids to magically develop better then he has.

Granted I don’t have the history to understand some of the back and forth between posters. I’m sure people have genuine reasons for being snarky at posters etc.

but the appointment of Teague as our new coach is an opportunity for the Club to start fresh and gel together towards 17. As a tribute to that can I suggest we all agree to forgive past differences and move forward with a clean slate?

If a poster is rude going forward call it out. But don’t let past history cloud your view of others. How about afresh start
