Destroyed like in the McGovern trade?

We traded a practically worthless future 5th along with a state league player who was never moving away from SA and two 2nd round picks that were change from the Gibbs deal for McGovern and what became pick 44 in this years draft.

To get that pick 13 from Sydney, Adelaide had to pony up the pick 40 themselves and add that to our 2nds.

I feel like we did ok.

How is McAdam shaping up? Haven't heard a single thing about him this year.

I’d be happy to trade our first rounder for a couple of seconds (equivalent) to ontrade for a small defender and small forward. Need to start plugging our glaring holes in the side, otherwise, we ain’t going no where.

Not really sure what another 18 year old (not named Walsh) will add to this current team.

We are done with the hard drafting. That is clear as day. We are adding cream (quality) to the nearly baked cake now, so to speak. Papley, Coniglio, Martin, Crouch etc. are all those top class players who are considered exactly that. We’ve rebuilt fairly well and done the hard yards. But it’s time to breakthrough and become a force by adding those players. SOS, Agresta and co. need to have responsibility in finding some gems in the second, third round of the draft now. Something we’ve struggled with for a while.

Which means Gws can match and force a trade?

I doubt they will be able to match.

An unrestricted free agent can automatically move to the club of his choice.
An offer to a restricted free agent may be matched by his club, which has right of first refusal over his services. If the unrestricted free agent does not wish to remain with his original club, he must enter the draft or seek a trade.

Restricted free agents have the right to move to a club of their choice, subject to the current club’s right of first refusal over their services. That is, if the current club can ‘match’ the offer from a suitor club, the player must stay or enter the draft. The tabled offer includes only football payments and Additional Service Agreements (ASA) amounts.

We are still very keen on Papley, Swans holding firm on demands. Only real chance is if Papley pushes heavily for the move and Swans feel pressure to move him on when currency is high (in contract).

What do you reckon he's going to end up costing?

It would be great to get him signed up quickly Lachie Neale style and not be in a bidding war with four other clubs until the last day of the trade period

Geez they did well to secure Neale & Cameron with little fuss...helps them in the sense they are a one team town, with GC not a threat.

Both Neale & Cameron only have very loose ties to Brisbane if any...i don't think it was really 'go home factor'. it seems like they snuck under the guards of other teams. Very smart and well managed recruiting.

Still think we need to find a quality, athletic and sturdy young Ruckman in the draft somehow (which to be fair, is easier said than done) and some mids/wingers with zip and a smaller sized shut down back pocket player..

Think we still need to use whatever assets we can get from the draft.. Our ruck stocks is really giving me headaches tbh.
