This is exactly how I want it. Let them be the odds on favourites. That is when we play our best footy, not when we are the favourites.

It is a moot point, but if Brisbane took half their chances early in the game yesterday the result could have been totally different. They didn't kill the game off when they could have. Rainer and a few others were the culprits and they paid for it in spades
Exactly.

Brisbane were hideously wasteful and finally ended up throwing in the towel.

Richmond are a fine team and a worthy opponent but people need to stop drinking the idiot medias bathwater.

Like any team in the comp this year they are beatable. They got let off the hook this week.

How does Reid fix that problem? He's slow with horrible agility, if the ball isn't kicked straight to him he's out of the contest.
He will make a contest, give us a tall option. The same role played by Roughhead, he didn't take many marks and kicked only one goal I think. That is thw role we want Reid to play plus relief ruck so that either Roughy or Wills doesn't need to

It's going to be heart in mouth city for the entire game with Reid - he is one puff of wind away from breaking down again.

Ried remains the closest structural match available and the riskiest.

I personally believe that following the structural match formula in this instance is a mistake.

No other player on our list brings what Jordan does and the nearest match is heartbeat away from breaking down again.

Inject other talent into the 22 would be my choice.

Interesting that nobody has mentioned Varcoe yet. He was last out, he might be first back in.

Poor form for the majority of the year but his last month has been pretty decent, and he's a proven finals performer.

I'd trust him to hold up more than Reid, even if it means we play small again.
Yes, Varcoe may well have been last out but at who's expense. For mine, the selection committee chose Stephenson over Varcoe not degoey. I think the structure around degoey is different hence why I'm a strong advocate of reid as opposed to Varcoe.

We all know the names and what they offer, unlike most here I don't pretend to have wisdom over and above the selection committee I will leave that to them.

Finals are a time of risk and reward, most of the options have their pros and cons. For me it's a matter of maximizing our healthy bodies come GF day and Ried is not comforting along those lines.

If "other talent" is the best you can come up with then maybe Reid is far from the riskiest option. Got any names in mind? Lynch? Goldsack?

We dont need somebody to replace Jordy. We already have Stevo and Elliott to do that.

What we need is somebody to replace Cox. Reid has done that successfully this season when Cox was out with a foot injury. He needs to come in to give Mihocek some support as well as relieve Roughead of ruck duties.

You seem to claim wisdom over and above the medical committee though.

I think a fit Elliott and a fit Moore and a fit Reid we would have won last year. Sigh.

A fit Moore might have been enough. Or at least a Moore confident enough to put his hand up.....by all accounts he was fit enough. Water under the bridge now. But we cant make the same mistake this time. If Reid says he is fit then he has to be trusted, and selected.

May depend on who we're up against. Richmond's small/mids did the job against the Lions early:
Martin 6 - (obviously would be JDG)
Rioli, Caddy 2
Edwards, Castagna, Bolton 1

Losing DeGoey and should we face the Lions I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in either Wells or Varcoe for DeGoey. Forward line made up of:

Wells Mihocek Hoskin-Elliot
Thomas Elliot Stephenson

Cross our fingers and hope JD can get up for the Big Dance the weeks after.

Yeah I agree. We have been asking a lot of Mihocek and Grundy to be the only marking talls late in the game when the ball is being booted out of defence. While Reid is a risk, we don’t have many other tall options that can at least compete in the air. If we were to make it to the GF, I think we are going to need to find this type of player anyway. So if Reid is fit, he may as well come in for the prelim.
