The 4 way trade was from Tom Browne.. which is how you know it's rubbish:

"Port, Bulldogs, Swans and Saints have been working on a four way deal that’s see Bruce, Howard, Ryder and Jones get to their selected destinations. Daniher deal is delaying that. One source suggesting with the uncertainty, it half fell over late Friday afternoon"

Hedging a bet both ways as normal

Saints

As much as I’d love to keep pick 13 at all costs I think it would be a failure to miss one of Keath/Bruce simply because we won’t give it up.

Make no mistake we should be able to keep a pick in the top 25 and get both (and it would be a failure not to have a top 25 pick -unless we have another trade up our sleeve) but our young KPPs badly need the help. And we need better tall depth at both ends.

If we get Bruce, Keath and have pick 18 (which we can dangle for another player) id consider it a massive win.

What do you think they’re both worth Scrag??

Id say Bruce's real value would be a pick in the 25-30 range and Keath's would be somewhere from 35-50. I wouldn't be bending over backwards to appease either club though. What we've offered is close enough. We let Hamling go to Freo for something like pick 35. If that was somewhere around his real value then you'd think anything under 50 for Keath in his current state would be fair.

Seriously why do we desperately need to keep pick 13 ?

Its not like we lack young talent.

If it covers both Bruce and Keath and that’s all that has to be given up, then so be it then great do it now.

The club is on the verge of top 4 again if these two come, and worrying about “paying overs“ is just ridiculous.

Because pick 13 may just land us the next Eddie Betts / Charlie Cameron / Liam Ryan small forward, or Andrew Gaff / Mitch Duncan winger that we badly need to complete the premiership puzzle.

Don't give away first rounders if you don't have to, and in this case we shouldn't have to. Neither player is worth a first rounder.

Pick 45 is entirely unreasonable for Keath for mine.

He’s a proven, mature, athletic, skilled CHB. He’s more in line with pick 32 in my view.

Most of that is debatable.

What is for certain is the "mature" part.

He's 28 and has just had an operation to insert a metal plate into his leg.

I've just had a quick unsuccessful search online, but if it's his left leg (ie. His front bowling foot that his 190+ cm frame landed on thousands of times in his 10 year cricket life) then it should spark massive concern.

His trade value (which is all risk/reward in every case) is subsequently sure to take a pretty big dive.

Individually they are not worth first round picks but combined you could argue they are worth one.

Agreed. You could have said the same thing about having enough quality youth since 2016. Trading our first pick would’ve cost us English, Naughton and Smith.

I have no problem trading our first first round pick if we’re getting a high, high quality player in return but I don’t necessarily think Bruce and Keath are that quality and I think we’ve got enough assets with 1x second rounder and 3x third rounders to get a deal done with both St Kilda and Adelaide while taking that pick 13 to the draft.

I think the Saints have already said they won't take your Pick 32 for Bruce (Lethlean mentioned this on Trade Radio), Crows/Saints would at least be asking for you to turn your 3 x 3rd rounders into a high 2nd, but this would need to be done by Wednesday, which i don't see happening. If Crows blink first we might take your P32 for Keath, and Bruce takes whatever 2nd rounder you might get from the above swap, or future picks??
Yes and everything clubs say on trade radio is 100%

I’d rather split 13. Draft is pretty even. Just get both players in. If we pay something close to the equivalent of 25 for Bruce, that’s great. Something equivalent to pick 30 for Keath is great too. Do those deals and find a way to take a top 25 pick to draft and that’s a great result.

If the talk about us not willing to trade 13 is just talk I’d understand. I hope we’re not really that serious about it though.
We might have a hard on for someone around pick 13. If the draft guys reckon they see something back them.

I’m hammered but this seems pretty spot on all around. If we reject the swap for 18 we must really fancy someone in the draft
around 13.

You can never have too much young talent coming to your club. Why not draft another first rounder? Next year we know who we’re getting, following years we should improve. When’s the next time Bulldogs see a non compromised pick 13?
