OK how does this work, if a player wont sign a contract, is he a delisted free agent or does he have to go into the draft?

I thought - like Lyons last year - a player can choose to delist themselves and sign a DFA contract? Or does club have to sign off on it?Has to go into the draft.
He's only a DFA if he isn't offered a contract and is cut by the club.

Players delisted by a club are unrestricted free agents but a player who retires or delists himself is not eligible to be a free agent.

mystery player.
Lyons was actually delisted, well..
The AFL ask GWS if they want first crack at them, then offer GCS and if they pass them up then AFL advise the player about their options from there...OK how does this work, if a player wont sign a contract, is he a delisted free agent or does he have to go into the draft?
DFA option? We’re got interest in another player who is unhappy.. but not in trade period.
Like, I didn't understand behind this decision.
I think it's Sam Murray.
He was pretty disgruntled about being cut by Collingwood after they kept on the other drug takers.
He would qualify as a DFA.
Hopefully DFA means Drug Free Agent....Only a guess, but I think it's Sam Murray.

Right age profile, brings run and carry off the HBF.
