I'd look at signing Sam Gray as a DFA. I see him as a similar type to Papley albeit a poorer version.

He hasn't been delisted. Port offered a year.

I actually thought that Cameron himself seemed quite frustrated in the final press conference. Almost like he is annoyed that he's effectively giving up Martin for nothing.

We offered a future second and third for Martin. Gold Coast said they have heaps of draft picks so wanted something better than the AFL already gave them. I kid you not. Paraphrasing but that's the crux. Drunk on concessions.

Swans said Papley wasn't being traded unless they got Daniher so our offer doesn't matter.

Papley was not worth #9. Martin was not worth a first rounder. End of story really.

We had fair values in mind and we stuck to them. Everyone talks about how SOS doesn't blink. He didn't.

This is about the club, not people getting their temporary high through trade entertainment.

Unsure, but perhaps it could be a downgrade of this year's for theirs next year with a club likely bottom half? I don't know. But the idea is something worth looking at is all.

Isn't the preseason draft held after the national draft? So what if the Bulldogs, North, Essendon or St Kilda pull the trigger and select Martin before we do?

We have pick 3 in the PSD, he would have to get past 2 teams, if GC were to pick him, the AFL will be in strife for restraint of trade.

This has now turned into quite an interesting situation.

They’d have to agree to delist by a date. As they did last year with Lyons. If they don’t he has to run the luck.

Not sure what GC do now really. They simply can’t redraft him. Would be insane. Equally doing nothing would be odd.

If they are real pricks they will look to do a deal with Melbourne. Melb would have to be happy that he’d want to go there. But maybe they go after 8 for 15 and 20. Gift them Martin.

What is stopping Jack Martin not nominating for either draft and being picked up as a DFA? Is it because he’s not strictly delisted? At some stage GCS his contract expires doesn’t it.
Is there a rule against it?

As long as GC offer him a deal then he's not a DFA

Blues were done over.

Deals were agreed to, then reneged upon and more, much more was sought for both Papley & Martin.

Last night Dodoro was offered pick 9, next years 1st and 2nd by Swans, who were going to seek AFL approval to enable deal to proceed or obtain a future 2nd as part of other deals.

Dodoro has shafted a family member of Essendon royalty who wanted to leave Melbourne for relative anonymity in Sydney.

AFL complicit in the shafting we received by the Gold Coast Suns, told they needed to flex their muscle and harden up.

SOS didn’t fail, at this point he hasn’t delivered the players but he also didn’t overpay.

Very obvious many in here have never been involved in a commercial negotiation of any significance.

So, so true.

SOS’s negotiating skills have got us to where we are.

Have to play the “long game”.

It’s difficult dealing with people who renege on deals.

SOS will be sure other List Managers know what happened - Karma bus will catch up with them.

Only criticism I would have is he should have locked away Butler early as insurance.

We may get Martin for free - time will tell on that one.
