Just wanted to get some eagles supporter opinions on Andrew McDougall. How do you think he will go at the Bulldogs?

will suit there uncontested fast pace running very well

if he's injury free and has a good pre season then he should be a 50+ goal forward

or he could drop his head and mope around giving half hearterd leads for the half season and be delisted

His WAFL form was patchy at best. Had some stellar games and some horrible ones. I dont think he will play much for them. Hes too similar to Rob Murphy I think

Depends who you ask. There's those who think his potential is a high as any KPP out there, and there's those who think he'll never amount to anything more than just potential. You either love him or hate him.

Needs to learn how to maintain intensity for an entire game. One of those players who will kick 5 goals and take 10 marks when the team is going well, and not get a touch when the team is being beaten.

Most forwards are like that though. Although I agree he's more like that than most.

If he was any good he would be still at the Eagles. He is a dud, if he gets a game he should count his blessings. Expect to see him delisted within 2 years!

Speaking as a Perth Demons fan... he should do just about as well as my team since 1980.

Thats gold mate. :thumbsu:

As to the question good luck with Doogs, he showed little to nothing for us so if he comes good I'll be surprised.

Does have some talent but no ticker Im afraid.

Despite all his faults and there were many, he had ten times more ability than the recent Rookie addition Waankerman. I can't believe that the Eagles have taken a crab like him.

Have faith in the recruiting dept Mick.

Thay dont make that many mistakes.

McDougall is capable of having an impact for the Bulldogs. He is fast and athletic and can take a mark (perhaps not a great pack mark), is quick on the lead but will get frustrated and drop off his effort quickly if he isn't getting the ball. He is also injury prone, but I don't think that he is "soft" as some Eagles fans have labled him. His injury history might be a concern given that the Bulldogs are still perceived as lacking in tall players. I think that the Bulldogs need to find a position for "Doogs", leave him in it so that he can settle into a role, and make sure that he gets a fair bit of the ball to give him every chance to make an impact. Perhaps the position to which he is suited (one in which I don't think he was used by the Eagles) is "third tall forward" using his athleticism to get to the ball and his height to stetch defences. I hope that he does well for the Bulldogs, just NOT when they are playing against the Eagles !;)

Thanks SE. I guess the only problem I foresee here is that playing as a 'third tall' in our forward line is a bit of a contradiction in terms. With the addition of McDougall, our list of young talls now reads as follows:

Walsh (number 4 overall pick)
Williams (number 6 overall pick - though projected as a defender)
McDougall (number 5 overall pick)
Baird
Tiller
West

We just delisted a couple as well in Morgan and Wells. When you look through the list, it is not exactly a who's who of AFL footy, and McDougall has played more games/kicked more goals that all of the others combined.

Whilst we have Johnson, Murphy (assuming back from injury) and now Akermanis as capable forwards, none of them are tall...I suspect if McDougall is going to make a name for himself at the kennel it will be as either the ONLY tall forward, or at CHB.

Based on the rest of the comments here, you guys dont think he can do it...does anyone here think he can make an impact? Very high pick, undoubted talent...seems like the questions are not so much whether he can, but whether he really wants too!

bingo

on the list of talls you mentioned - you look to be in some serious doo-doo there, and i think you'll find andrejs everitt will be your future chb - mcdougall could blossom if he is the focal point of the attack and gets his confidence up, theres no doubting the quality and quantity of ball he will be getting I50 - so as far as delivery goes, he has what any forward would dream of - quality ball coming in relentlessly on a silver platter, and almost no competition for a spot in the line up!

if he doesnt make the most of this opportunity - he is truly a dud

NO

You can't teach a player to have a ticker. Either you do, or you don't.

And McDud's is the size of a pea. He is truly McWoeful.

Instead of McDUD he'll probably now be known as McDOG!
