A political tragic partic for American politics, I had followed Pat Caddell for years .., liked him because he was such a shambling maverick pollster - so the article brought it all back.

As a lifetime Clinton supporter I was at stage 4 TDS for the whole of 2016 campaign (there is no stage 5!) And there was my hero Pat on Foxtel extolling the imminent triumph of Trump, week after week, on a regular panel chaired by Harris Falkner, I couldnt believe Pat the Dem falling for an oaf like Trump,,
On top of that my handyman fixing my bathroom would eye off my tv tuned to foxtel or cnn and confidentially predict Trump was going to win in a canter and "ËVERYTING WAS GOING TO CHANGE". I kept pointing out Trump's lack of vocabulary. Handyman kept looking at me with contempt.

Sadly Pat and my handyman turned out to be spot on. And here we are.

Pat died in Feb 2019 so Trump doesnt have his polling skills for this campaign,

MERCERS - 2017 was the high point of their influence. They have disappeared from my view ever since Trump forced them to sack Bannon from Breitbart. Would be surprised if they don't turn up for this campaign, however.

TRUMP DIGITAL CAMPAIGN - was entirely run by Jared Kushner, who hired Brad Parscale and then Cambridge Analytics - the latter for specific tasks.
Trump only ever relies on the family for the big jobs.

Well, they could have put Bernie Sanders forward.

A genuine maverick like Trump, but with a clear vision for a better future for all Americans, not just this BS dream that everyone can be a billionaire (they can't. It's a fact), compassion, decency, articulateness...

But it's up to America to demand that. There's still enough of a democratic pipeline from the people to Washington that it could still happen - for all America's crapping on about being the greatest democracy on earth, the claim does have its foundations in truth - but probably not before Sanders is already too old.
