***************************************************

Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

It would be good to know what the actual rules will be s far as list sizes and categories- oh and what the AFL intends to do about VFL/Reserves competition...
always a sad time of the year seeing players delisted .

Ya think?
Unbelievable that this is yet to be decided/announced!

Its very possible that the info has already been filtered through to the clubs, just not announced publicly yet while clubs are still playing finals etc. AFL wants the focus on the finals and GF, not on cost cuttings and people losing their jobs etc.

Not the sort of thing that would be able to be kept hush hush. If the clubs know, it would be out.

Wasn't it less that 2 weeks ago when Clarkson was publicly complaining about the lack of clarity?

In fairness it's pretty difficult for the AFL to decide on next years lists when with Covid it's hard to say what's happening next week.

Who knows if by next year we'll have fans at games or not. I mean I think most would say we probably will, but who's to say there won't be a third wave? All it takes is a couple of idiots to set us back another 3 months.

Its pretty easy to say how many players are on the lists, keep the same number - just lessen the salary cap and each players wage is lessened by their percentage of the salary cap. But noooooooo, players dont want a pay cut and would rather have less players on the list.

They need to make a decision though. Players are already getting cut. It's not so much the number they decide on, but that a decision is made and there is clarity.
Players need to know if they'll be on list next year or need to start looking for a job. Clubs need to be able to play their list management.

What new information is going to come in the next few weeks about 3rd waves or anything that will effect crowds from next March?

As long as you can avoid having to deal with him, having Dodoro at Essendon is great for the competition.

speaking to a couple of people who are involved there, it’s an absolute mess - a top to bottom mess. Dysfunctional gets thrown around a lot as description but in this case from what I hear it’s exactly the situation there. I feel for those I know but not nearly enough to not be sincerely delighted at what a mess they’re in. Playing group not happy with each other, nor happy with the coaches, admin questioning each other, questioning footy dept, coteries think they know best (Sheeds!!)... a hot mess.

I can’t imagine Stocker being delisted. He needs a huge preseason, and he needs to establish himself into the 22 next year. It’ll be year 3 for him and time for him to show himself. I trust the coaching team will gift him nothing, in the long run he’ll appreciate it it more and be better off by earning his games. If he’s smart his preseason has already begun.

Wonder how Dylan Shiel is feeling about this ?

I'm not saying something happening now will effect what happens next year, it's more that setting something in without being able to even know it it's going to be possible in 6 months is a difficult leap for a massive organisation to make.

If they allow too many players on the list and then in February a 3rd wave comes in and crowds aren't allowed again then that could cripple many teams and the league.

They need to make a leap but I can see the apprehension from them, a wrong decision here could have huge ramifications.

Could they include a tentative list of say five players that are on rolling contracts to train etc over summer then would be cut at the start of the year if there’s no projected revenue?

Hard times for all involved.

Covid Supplementary List 👍🏻

How about Bob Murphy, on SEN "A little birdy told him that is Saad leaves it will be to Melbourne".

Makes total sense leaves a rabble to go to a bigger rabble? At least Essendope have supporters!

How does this peanut get paid for his comments, seriously surely he volunteers.

If he had of said carlton you would be quoting him as a done deal 🤷‍♂️

Said it more than once I am not overly fussed about Saad. Had his chance and went to Essendope, dealing with Dodo is not worth the effort.

But anything off SEN is a joke.

Yeah that show is beyond awful. It's a tough slot but I do miss the Ox days!

Whateley is in love with him, they’d philosophise over tea and scones often me thinks...

He wasn’t fair when traded Jaksch/Whiley to us.....

Surely SOS was just doing his job at the time ? - I can remember reading all sorts of comments on here about how great Jacsh will be and what a midfield beast Whiley was - Malthouse reached for his type of 'special' a couple of trade periods - even recruiting Boekhurst - who had slagged off at the Club in his social media - that one was pure genius - SOS's fault there as well I guess..

Tell you what - SOS would NO WAY have sanctioned the Judd deal and anyone who still thinks we 'won' something out of that remains delusional - the chosen ones strategy was always going to end up with middling Club status and not a sustainable one at that - the cost of the deal was way way to high and the introduced pay disparities murdered culture and team harmony - but the marketing imperative worked for a couple of years.

and in saying all that no SOS isn't 'perfect' like anyone he has his biases - sometimes they work out for the best and sometimes not- players/development/coaches are all variables that impact over time - and recruiters can only take so much responsibility for success OR failure.

I look forward to seeing what Austin does- I suspect he will do ok for us - as he seems to be more systems-based and our Club is in a much better list position than it was when SOS was handed the keys to an absolute rabble - Austin is building from strong foundations.
