I find it quite funny!

I told you all this stuff 4 months ago, (go back through my post history and listen to what sos said today) almost verbatim.

The other thing I told you 2 months ago was GWS considering matching. I couldn't let slip about JC because it would have given me away.

I got abused by 70% of you.

Makes me reticent to share info, I'm sure others feel the same way

Just so we are clear, what did you state 2 and 4 months ago?

You got abused by 70% of who/what exactly?

No matter where you're coming from on the matter, don't go all black-belt so readily and don't 'share' anything you don't want to for fear of being offended.

The monetary valuation and SOS not being willing to match Dodoro's offer is from what I have heard from reasonably close sources to Adam in the inner Coburg/Brunswick Lebanese community.

As for the question of changing how much he rates him, Saad has developed as a player, yes, but nothing beyond that which would be expected for a mature age player having additional years in the system and reaching prime age.

Nothing drastic happened, he was always a good player, and we didn't come to the party under SOS, which is fine.

Just not sure how SOS going on air and essentially parroting Dodoro rhetoric helps the club.

SOS no longer works at the club. They sacked him. He has no obligation to help the club at the expense of his mate whose job is under intense scrutiny right now.

Didn't SOS say in the interview that he does all this because he is passionate about the club? He doesn't have to go out of his way to help the club improve now, but ideally don't publicly undermine the CFC in negotiations with *FC.

In any case, whatever, SOS does his thing.

He said what he said about Gov and the way he was used because he is passionate about the club. In this case, he's a footy person being asked a footy question about a footballer. He defended his recruitment based on his Adelaide form, and he thinks Gov has been let off too easily, which the vast majority of supporters seem to agree with.

He's certainly not on SEN to put it out there that Saad is not worth much. That job belongs to his successor in Austin.

When SOS was at GWS, he did what was right for GWS. Right now his job is in the media so he goes on the radio. Maybe he is helping Dodo, maybe he believes Saad is a high value acquisition. Maybe he has a job as a consultant for Dodo or something. We don't know.

A heap of scribes are telling Carlton to pay up for Saad. Why does SOS's similar view hold any more weight as to what we will offer?

Apart from the SOS crap, Liddle is doing great. Membership booming and our off field set up in a great shape. This is just click bait. Going to be hard for Mitch to look jack in the face on the first day of pre season so I think his spot on the list is untenable. Onwards and upwards baggers

“We all agreed that Eddie Betts should come to the Carlton Football Club. We all agreed on that, but it was at a price in terms of what the deal looked like and what his deal looked like,” Silvagni told SEN Breakfast.

“When someone above decides to change those rules, the reason you get a little bit annoyed and frustrated at times, is when we went into the Carlton Football Club and it wasn’t just myself it was Andy McKay and Steven Trigg … our list wasn’t in a good state and neither was our salary cap.

“You work really hard to get your salary cap and TPP into a position that you can look after the players now and you can look after players in the future, but when certain people start splashing money out after we all agree what that payment should look like and particularly as a list manager, when you’ve got to look after other players and other managers, and you’ve got a 17-year player sitting there who you’ve actually just done a deal with and you look eye to eye with them and say ‘this is all we can pay you’ and he’s been very loyal to his club, and I’m talking Carlton, and then another player comes in (Betts) that you’re bringing back and then you want to pay that player more than the player that has been sitting at your club, I don’t find that fair.

“We all have a responsibility to make sure the players that are loyal to the club are looked after and when you have players at clubs overrule your decisions that you’ve worked so hard for, and because they want memberships to look great or they want the accolade that they’re bringing someone back, is their intention the right intention for the Carlton Football Club and I don’t think it was.

“100% (it was a decision by Cain Liddle to go over my head).”

Adam Saad will be a good player and potentially a boon in terms of marketing to a New Demographic . I’m happy for business to intersect with football.

The player being discussed was Eddie Betts in that situation. Silvagni's reasoning that it was an insult to Kade Simpson that he couldn't be rewarded for his service but the rules would be broken for Eddie.

SOS said they all agreed to the salary offer and Liddle went over his head to get more money ratified.

How about you listen to the man himself.

"It wasn't Mick. Everyone keeps saying it was Mick. Mick and I got along. It was just how the contract was dealt with. They kind of brought a contract to me and then they basically ripped it up in our faces … it was weird," Betts said.

"I said 'what's happening?' and then they offered me another two years for less money than the first one they offered … I was like 'if you just match half of it I'll stay. I don't want to leave'."

He was even on the veterans list as it existed then. He wouldn't have cost us much at all to retain. We low balled him and forced him out.

He's openly stated that he would have stayed for half of the increase offered by the Crows. We stuffed up; big-time. I thought he was washed up when he left. Boy was I mistaken. Live and Learn.
